Anybody have the link to Steve Young on NFL Live yesterday talking about the Harbaugh hiring? Heard he was giddy like a school girl.
Can we please try and turn Steve Young and Jerry Rice into positional coaches! I personally believe both have what it takes. Jerry Rice was always reported as somebody who taught other recievers what to do, like TO. Young just seems smart enough to develop the skills for a QB. He can watch film of just your legs in a game and tell you how it went, seems like he knows whats need to coach other QBs.

this isn't his reaction, but this is Steve Youngs speculation and discussion of Harbaugh pre-hire.

he sounds pretty enthusiastic about it.

if Steve Young likes, I love.

Obviously, the fix was in.

^ I think Steve Young is too rich to be the 49ers QB coach! I think he is trying to own it, not coach it.

This

Positional coaches is all grunt work for guys like Sing. Smart guys like Steve is too intelligent for that kinda work.

He wants to own the franchise not be a cook in the back.
I think Steve Young and Jim Harbaugh are very similar kinds of guys: smart, competitive, competent, and a little goofy. Both have a good sense of humor and neither takes themselves too seriously regardless of how successful they've each been.

I'd reckon that they'd build a pretty decent relationship between themselves and have good lines of communication. I think Harbaugh would be very interested in what Young has to say.

It'll be interesting to see how that all plays out.

I think Young is smart enough to realize that he doesn't presently have the skills to be a coach. I'm sure he can, because he is both analytical, yet articulate. But a guy like Jim Harbaugh has been coaching for a long time, even as a player during the offseason.

If Steve Young were to become a coach, he'd probably need some assistance learning HOW to be a coach. If you look at Ray Brown, he's just the offensive line coach assistant.

But man... wouldn't that be awesome to be a rookie QB and have both Jim Harbaugh AND Steve Young coaching you up? The young QBs today probably watched Harbaugh and Young when they were kids during the '90s.

Dunno where to post this, and a lot of new threads get locked... came across this great NFL Primetime highlight of a hobbled Steve Young's comeback against the Bengals in '96: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XQ09JU0zkM

Also T.O.'s first TD catch.
