Good article on Baalke by Mike Silver . . .

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ms-baalkeninersgm010611

Quote:
“Trent Baalke is a football guy through and through, with a very good understanding of the game and a very sound evaluation process,” said Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff. “And he’s driven – he has a tireless work ethic. He’ll do everything in his power to help restore that organization to prominence.”

The endorsement from Dimitroff brings us to the second reason I’m encouraged by the ascent of Baalke: He represents another victory for the unheralded, observant grinders who are the lifeblood of the player-acquisition process, but are often overlooked when it comes to landing high-profile gigs.

Time will tell . . . I'd sure like to see what he could do paired up with Harbaugh.

I dont mind Baalke at all. There just as much risk with him as anyone else. Im also thankful we didnt get Lombardi as our GM. The guy is sketchy as hell and his leaving Oakland was comical. Other than Reese there wasnt anyone else. I thought his drafting was spot on for what we needed on the roster. Another year that has good QBs and CBsin this years draft im not worried about Baalke at all. Unless he hires a complete retread reject as HC.

Somthing about him seems sleezy. He kind of reminds me of Dick Morris.

Why because he's overweight...

Was listening to one of the reporters or someone with credibility on KNBR when talking about Baalke and they were talking about some things in practice when the guy mentioned to Baalke about some negative thing in practice and he said Baalke said not to worry, things like that are going to change from now on.

"I’m hearing that York is pointing to Baalke for finalizing this deal. This is an immense charge for the Baalke GM tenureship, which, let’s face it, has not been met with large applause by the media or 49ers fans.

York believed that Baalke was the guy to get Harbaugh to the 49ers, held tight with that, and if Baalke is the one he wants to credit, then that’s a major feather in the new GM’s cap."
