wasnt that draft board pretty much made up already by scotty m

Never really heard that to tell you the truth. Besides a draft board doesn't really mean much. He's the one that pulled the trade. And he picked them. Who's to say Scotty didn't think both those guys were gone by the time those picks came.

Scotty doesn't know!
very true

Because Jed has given the indication that it is going to be an exhaused search leaving no stone unturned. If he hires Baalke four days into it that is not a thorough enough search imo. I don't think it is as much a reflection of opinions of Trent as that. I think the collecive notion is that we need fresh blood in the front office.

1. easy cheap hire.
2. yes man. to be exact: York man.
3. no due diligence being exercised by Jed. should leave no ston unturned.
4. constant "inside" leaks of what is going in.

these are not my reasons for not liking baalke, just things being read here and heard elsewhere.

personally, the only thing that bothers me is that I was hoping York would blow it all up and get someone from outside. burn it all and rebuild.

HOWEVER, it makes sense in a way to hire baalke. he knows the roster. knows team strength and weakness. and he just might land harbaugh.

If in that search the same name keeps coming up then you dont have to keep searching. the funny thing is if he was to do a long search then come up empty on a good coach because of that most of you would blame him on that. How do you think the zone would be if Harbough got signed by another team before jed exhausted all options. The zone would blow up!
Jed emphasized repeatedly that he was going to speak to several candidates including people free to talk after the season was over. If he doesn't do that now, he and the organization will again look inept and loose even more credibility.

On the flip side, he does sound like he like Baalke. And Lombardi came away from the interview clearly convinced that the job was baalke's already. If Lombardi is right, then it is even more disappointing that Jed is so inept at the interview process that he tips his hand so obviously.
How did Michael Lombardi walk away from an interview for the GM job and conclude that Baalke is getting the job.
