Under Nolan and Sing, we've been masters at winning meaningless games at the end of the season, and look where that's gotten us.

You play to win games. Period.

how'd that work out for herm edwards?

Doesn't matter. You play the games to win.

No, we want top 5 picks every year.... Its ridiculous that we can go to the playoffs where anything can happen, the offense looked sharp, Alex looked good at doing all the little things u can do to win by mastering the hard count, making proper adjustments while managing the play clock brilliantly, defense was shutdown and flustered one of the most well composed QBs in the league, and our team IS MATURING INTO WHAT WE EXPECTED ALL ALONG AND PEOPLE ARE STILL BICTHING!

Either start supporting THIS team, or GTFO. Or is rooting against the 49ers part of being a 49er faithful? Im confused!

Even to sacrifice future meaningful wins? I understand you don't want to establish the thought that losing is ok within an organization, but I think it's ok for fans to root for a team to lose if it means acquiring a franchise player who can win us some Superbowls. I personally want the Niners to be winning Superbowls instead of winning 6 or 7 games a season

Less teams have made more with their low draft pics vs. drafting high (although I understand it helps). It wouldn't matter who we draft unless we have a capable coach and supporting cast to lead, not an inept wannabe who thinks he can coach with rah-rah-rah's vs actually teaching a talented team how to play.

With that being stated, I still stand by my opinion. How the hell can you look in the mirror and say it's okay to lose just so we can draft high? That's a loser mentality, IMO! It's not fair to the players playing their aZzes off and not fair to the fans that support this team!

Don't get me wrong, I see our shortcomings... The fact that we can't adjust game per game, and how we are technically lost in some of the most fundamental things each team must know (time management, penalties, turnovers, etc., etc.) but still, you play this game to win!

Not one player can help unless we have a teacher for a coach that can teach and infuse a winning mentality within this organization. No matter where we pick in the draft.

It doesn't make you not a fan if you want them to get rid of Dingletary and this clown coaching staff. It just makes you realistic and practical. We can NEVER win with Dingletary. NEVER!

you are, for obvious reasons, not real fans of the San Francisco 49ers. no real fan would ever wish for their team to lose.....no matter what the circumstances.

i hope you find these links useful.

gladiators WE SOLUTE YOU!!!!! As a niner fan longer than i can remember i for obvious reasons hope we lose every game in every year until the owner, coach, most of the players and the qbs on this team are history. No matter what the circumstance i boast out load that we SUCK!!!!

WE. Speak for youre self!
my brain wants them to lose, my heart wants the opposite. Come game time, heart wins every time. My voice is still gone from Sunday.

That's not the point, SD and you know it. The point is ROOT FOR YOUR TEAM EVERY SUNDAY!!!!

PERIOD!!!!

That's what a fan does. A fan doesn't boo his team. Doesn't root for his team to lose.

A fan can be critical of his team's organization and coaching staff AFTER the game and season. During the games, you root for them. Why?

Because it's your team.

is the problem understanding this basic concept?

And anyway, if we make the playoffs, and possibly win a playoff game, wont you be proven wrong?

It seems simple enough.
Do people actually root against the 49ers?
This concept is mind-boggling.
What was the reaction of the fan who saw VD put 6 on the board early in the game?

Bill Walsh proved -- again and again -- that you don't have to pick high to get quality players.

In fact -- if you look at his draft record -- many of his 1st round picks were busts.

Jerry Rice is -- of course -- an exception.

But the man had extraordinary talent for identifying and drafting talent in rounds 2-7.

I don't think last April's draft was THAT bad. Both Iupati and Davis appear to be gold-chip talent.

We've had seven or eight years of excellent drafting position. How many winning teams has that produced?
