Then we as fans need to be patience. i know we want to win. but again were going to boo tell we see the qb we want and force some young guy into something he's not ready for. So as fans maybe it's are fault for wanting something we need to learn to be patient on.

We need to sit back this team has a lot of holes if we get a qb he needs to sit as well. take the time to learn why we get better players around him and fill the holes.

Just give the team back to Eddie and let him right this ship!

I'd like you to name and owner of a sports team, in any sport, that spent a career in that sport. You won't find many. Sports teams are businesses and that's how they need to be run.

Eddie was successful because he had the right guys working around him. Jed needs to get the right guys.

Agree so who's the right guy. Bill parcels is a name my buddy keeps telling me we should go after. but he's a short term fix would be with the team for only a few season. who else is out there that could be a g.m? anyone because we need to start there before we worry about firing sing!

So, let me get this straight: You weren't happy with the Kentwan Balmer, Chilo Rachal, Reggie Smith, Cody Wallace, Josh Morgan, Larry Grant draft of 2008? Super Bowl!!!!!

Brandon Flowers and DeSean Jackson would look pretty good in Niners gear, wouldn't they?

I can't put into words how depressed/pissed that list of players makes me. Talk about a draft that really sets a team back.
I think a lot of you guys are going to eat your words when JED, yes JED, gets this thing turned around. Eddie D. was in the same boat when he first took the team. Jed has shown a vested interest in getting a stadium built which makes me very happy. It lets me know that he is thinking about the fans. Most were excited when Sing. first came on board and he sparked the team. We can't fault Jed for trying to save money on an undiscovered coach like Sing. Just like Eddie D., Jed will realize that he needs a GM and coach to make the tough decisions that he doesn't totally understand. Most of us would make a lot more mistakes than the owners and coaches we bash on every day. I'm fed up with the niners play as well but I think Jed is doing a good job and will hire the right people.

Round one. Alex Smith 6 years is enough glad you got that deal fixed to save some cash.
Round one. Rash-shawn woods haha over Vince Wilfork TWICE!!!
Round one. Balmer. WTF?
Round one. Manny Lawson at best second rounder not a major passrusher but solid player.
Racheal OVER D JACKSON how did you not get the tape on him he's 10 mins away and JERRY RICE SAID he was going to be special. And JERRY KNOWS SPECIAL!!!!

So much can be said about this but to sum it up quick...32 NFL teams out of 32 make draft mistakes. The guys who get paid to draft and coach players make mistakes in their evaluations. It happens.

Desean Jackson was passed over by 32 NFL teams, some twice and the team that drafted him passed him over the first time.

Balmer was likely the BPA on our board. Some analysts thought he was a top 20 pick, some a 2nd round guy and others believed he was a late 1st early 2nd.

I could go on about all these guys but I won't. No team is perfect, No GM is perfect. Parcells & Holmgren have both made bad picks. Our next GM likely will too at some point. The NFL is not Madden.

And one final point just because Rice said Jackson would be special does not mean we should do what Jerry says. Players don't always make the best coaches, execs or evaluators and even players can be wrong. The Rachal pick was also on Mike Martz not on our GM at the time, he deferred to Martz on whether he wanted the WR or OG (Sweed or Rachal), Martz wanted the lineman. And I'd bet we were not the only team that ranked Limas Sweed above Desean Jackson.
we already got rid of him end of thread

It was unreasonable to expect the 49ers to replace Scot McCloughan this year due to the timing of his departure. Because of the rooney rule the team CANNOT promote Trent Baalke without first going through a formal interview process.

I think it's a mistake to give a HC total control; see Denver-McDaniels, WSH-Shanahan. Not everyone is Bill Belichick. One of the selling points for landing an elite HC candidate is allowing them to have a say in who is brought in to be their personnel aide.

Since i'm not very connected with the NFL world, i can't know for sure. But Floyd Reese did pretty well when he was with the Titans. Too bad we couldn't get Scot Pioli.

The other thing I would like to know is if people like Pioli and Reese have their own scouts, i would think they would. That would mean people the likes of Baalke would be gone.

But yea, we need a strong GM.

I thought shanahan was only the head coach. some guy named allen got the job for them at g.m right before they signed him. also if he was hansworth would already have been trade the first week of preseason. as for bill belichick well he was s**t for the browns but he had scott drafting for him to start with the pats now in the later years he's been the head coach the gm and the oc.

It's just about finding the right guy at the right time for the team your looking to build. sing wants smashmouth. i think the fans want a high flying pass happy run with gore once the pass is killing the d and let him tear them up some more. but we can't pass because we have 2 s**tty qb's 1 wr in his second year and he's having a slump because he didn't learn the playbook. another wr who just can't get open and when he does catchs the ball on one knee. and a tightend who's amazing and no running back now that gore is out.
they wanted Trent Baalke as the Gm but because of the rooney rule they would need to interview a black canidate before they could give the Job to Baalke. I don't think they need a GM as much as they need a team President. someone that know football and can help the GM find a new head coach and help run football operations.
If they hire someone like Scott Pioli { this is not going to happen }who is KC GM as team president that would help. There really are not any Good established GM out there that are free to move over to the 49er.

and that really is the sad reality.
so jed is prez/ceo...parents are co-chairs. to my understanding this means jed is given keys to drive this organization in his best judgement. my question is what are his limitations? budget? philosophy in business structure? the true answer could be telling to the team's future..
