willis and spikes would and will play with a broken hand. Book it! Probably the two biggest hearts on the team.

It won't prevent them from playing.

By league rules, if there is any question as to whether or not a player will play, the MUST be listed on the injury report in a category commensurate to their level of injury. Hence Willis, Spikes and Iupati, based on the fact they are not on the list, WILL play Thursday.
Ths game is a toss up, the Chargers have lost to the Seahawks, Raiders, and Rams. All three of those teams we beat, and we are better than all three of those teams. We should beat the Chargers.

Seriously, didn't Willis play with a fractured-up hand his rookie season? His hand looked like a big piece of veal covered in packaging tape!
SD will likely jump out to lead, taking advantage of our sloppy secondary. If Alex can get the ball downfield and play with confidence, we have a chance in a shoot-out. If he struggles (turnovers, mis-reads, cautious play), we have ZERO shot at winning this game.
Willis and takeo will play

they only allowed 175 pass yds per game (on average) this year thats extrmely good if alex plays well i would be pretty convinced of his abilities as a qb

On Nov. 4, 2007, Willis, then a rookie, played with a broken right hand for most of a 20-16 loss to the Falcons. He played with a cast for the rest of the season and averaged 14.4 tackles in the final eight games en route to leading the NFL in tackles with 226.

I hope your right. It was a good sign Sing looked tired. Tape, Tape and more tape. If we gameplan as good as we did on Sunday we could shock the world. Its good to be the underdog going into this game. Hopefully our corners keep their confidence up and apply strict disipline going into this one. Our whole team will be tested. I expect our young players to step up big time and sticking it all day to Ol' Man Rivers.
Ted Ginn is due and will find that hole in special teams that has alluded him all year.
If Dixion can keep his cleats under control, he should break a big one off. Westbrook's ability to find spacing in his routes should create an opening for Vernon Davis to have a breakout game. If Crabtree and Ginn can handle 10 catches between them and Morgan can continue to be consistant Alex Smith will have a great game as long as he doesn't have a more than one INT.
If the defense can hold in the 4th the 49ers will win 27-17

I will chalk that game that the Chargers lost to the Raiders as just a bad day. The Chargers are a good team.

The chargers are not good, they're just better than us. Without Rivers they'd be where we are right now. They're just over .500 club and may not make the playoffs. You call that good? That said I'll give up 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounders for Phillip Rivers right now. Alex is garbage.
Like I said earlier, we will only win this game if we put together a great gameplan on the both sides of the ball. I know people say that with Sing at head coach, a good plan is totally out of the question, but I disagree, to a certain extent.
If Manusky can call a game similar to the one he put up against the Saints this year, Falcons this year or the Colts last year, we can seriously hold Rivers in check. I know that rivers is an absolute monster, and he does it mostly with mediocre/garbage recievers, but with a good defensive scheme, we can definitely hold our own against this chargers' offense without Gates and Crayton.
On offense, I know we're gonna be in for a tough game against the #1 defense in the league. And its not as if the Chargers are only good at stopping the pass; they're also top 5 in run support. However, someone pointed out that they are very weak in defending against tight ends and running backs. That's where are strengths are on offense, and also the areas that Alex feels most comfortable throwing to. If, and only if Johnson can put together a gameplan where we utilize Davis as much as we can, throw TE screens, screens to Westbrook, we can be pretty successful on offense. And as for running the ball, I feel like we're gonna have to really move away from it a bit this week. Still, I think that we can catch em off guard with tosses to Westbrook and Dixon.
So I know that whatever I asked for above ( good coaching gameplan), is in a way too much to ask for, but I think I have some faith in Manusky to put it together b/c he's done it in the past. And as for Johnson, I really hope that Sing has put aside his 'filosofy' to a certain extent. I know that he's basically hanging to his last theads, and I have a feeling he'll do anything now as long as it ensures winning. Plus, ST will play a HUGE role in this game. SD is known for having a terrible ST this year, and I pray that Ginn can take one ( or two) to the house, 'cause if he does, it'll probably be enough to put us over SD.

LETS GO NINERS!
