We abandoned the whole "Alex Smith shotgun thing" a whole year ago.
After the Arizona game on Monday night last year, I was the only one yelling it from the rooftops, while everyone else was happy that our defense destroyed the Cardinals. I was in shock how we abandoned the successful shotgun offense. Well now, look where it got us.
FORGET about it. Singletary doesn't want to put Alex Smith in the shotgun, the point has already been made. If I have given up on that point, as its biggest proponent, so should you. Alex Smith's time is done as a 49er. Troy Smith fits in the offense better, plain and simple.
The Alex Smith era is OVER. If someone else picks him up and goes crazy with him in the shotgun, and he becomes a super star, so be it. This is an OLD topic. I hope everybody enjoyed the Arizona game last year.
