Platoon should be the new starting RB.
What is one thing that Dixon does better than Westbrook at this point?
Seriously.
(and don't say "move the pile", Dixon doesn't, never has).
He keeps Westbrook healthy and reduces his downs. That's the entire concept of the platoon.
Especially with a concussion prone back like Westbrook, you'd think that this would be self-evident.
You can argue with me until you're blue in the face, but the math is on my side. Platoons are much more successful than franchise backs, and they're more prone toward winning. The correct answer really is, "Platoon."
Why are we worried about reducing Westbrook's downs? We need him to be a workhorse for 5 games/playoffs (cue Jim Mora voice). Very doable for a back that had like 9 carries for the year up until last night.
I would agree with your second point if his injury history were indicative of a wear and tear situation. Concussions are not lingering/hampering injuries where they affect overall performance. With Westbrook, it seems like another concussion will likely be all she wrote, so why monitor his time on the field? He'll either get another concussion or he won't. It's not like a knee or an ankle where it can worsen over time and tread.
Platoons are the answer, but not the way our offense is currently constructed. We need an every down back to shoulder the load. I can only hope Westbrook can be half the back Frank was.

1) I don't need to argue with you until I'm blue in the face.
2) Just stating "the math is on my side" doesn't magically make "the math" (what math?) on your side. It isn't, silly.

i would give Westbrook the bulk of the work. I would give Dixon some carries. He has to learn to take the ball and hit the hole. Just look at how Gore and Westbrook took the hand off and boom hit it. Dixon takes the hand off and dances a bit then tries to hit it. He'll gain that experience with more play. Dixon gets goaline carries

WHAT!!! Why would you bring in the smaller back on 3rd down? Sorry but you start Westbrook and throw in some dashes of Dixon.
Westbrook is not an every down back anymore. He's perfect coming in on 3rd downs and catching those screen passes.
I beg to differ. He looked as good last night as he ever has.
That said, it makes sense to split the duty if for no other reason than to get Dixon more experience. If Westbrook suddenly gets all the reps and is injured, things would look bleak with Dixon. He needs work and experience. He isn't playing against 3rd stringers in PS anymore.
