IMO, there is only one position that is a "non-tradeable" and that's @ QB. Too bad we dont have that.
As great as Willis is at his position, we haven't been able to stop the opposing teams critical drives all season. It's not his fault, but it just shows that his impact is limited.
I that is due to lack of aggressive play calling during critical times.
I agreed. However, Willis is limited by nature of his position, not Willis himself.
Unlike Sing, I do believe the QB is the most important player on the field. To think all positions are created equal is just stupid. All you have to do is look at the pay scale at the top of each position.
Would the 49ers defense be the same without Willis? Would the Ravens defense be the same without Ray Lewis? Dominating LB's like that do not come around very often.
Of course not. I didn't say he doesn't have an impact, just that that impact is limited by nature of the position. What would it take to give him up? Im not sure. But I would consider it for the right price.
P.S. Ray Lewis is probably one of the only non-QBs in the league that I would consider "Non-tradeable." The leadership and energy he brings to the field trancends his position.
I'm not sure how to say this, but I look at Willis as a great MLB, but that's it. He's too passive to be a real leader (I dont believe in that silent leader crap). As it stands, Willis is nowhere near as valuable to this franchise as Lewis is to his.
