Is Mike Iupati the best 49er Offensive Lineman?

I think Bass was the most impressive lineman this year considering he went from a below average LG to an above average C. It's not like the switch was planned either and he had all the time in the world to prepare. He is bigger and stronger than Heitmann and you could argue that Iupati looked better because of Bass, kinda like A Davis at time looked worse because of Chilo.

Beast!!!!!
Glad to see him get the recognition. He struggled a lot early but made very good progress. He should be an anchor of that line for another 10 years.

I know it's hindsight but...

We could have picked Bulaga at #13 and kept our 4th round pick for a development player (Mike Kafka, QB), or another early contributor instead of picking Anthony Davis.

Some of us said that right after the trade to get Davis at 11. I think we could have landed Davis at 13, anyway. There was no need to trade.

Jump the gun a little why don't yah. I personally watched nearly every game this season (missed his best game according to reports) and thought he played well for a rookie.

Of course I had realistic expectations considering age and ability at the time he was drafted. Davis was drafted with 2011 and beyond in mind. I don't think for an instant that the staff expected him to play like a vet, and I as a fan did not expect it. He started, played like a very young rookie plays, and showed flashes of why he was drafted.

I really do think the guy gets a bum rap here on the zone. If he shows no improvement in year two, then voice your concerns going into year 3, it's way to early.
Chilo is obviously the best lineman on the team. Anybody that thinks otherwise should watch the film

Baas

I listened to the KNBR broadcast of the game this week and they kept bringing up Baas' dominant play.

Baas is a better center than he is a Guard.

Bass was originally drafted to eventually take over at center post Newberry. Then Heitmann did better than expected when he moved to the position to replace an ailing Newberry that same year and Bass was relegated to guard. Either way Bass does seem to play better at center than he does at guard. I wonder if Heightmann has anything left in the tank and if so how well he'd play back at guard.

Nope...he was on the all-rookie team, leave it at that. Baas was the best overall OL, IMHO.

Besides the snap to Brisbane that resulted in a safety, Baas had a very solid year. Now he just needs to worry about getting a helmet that fits
Staley had a bad season due to injuries. I still think hes our best OL.
Iupati sux!!!
Hes our best Guard, which isnt hard to do. id still call our best OL Eric Heitmann, but Iupati is already probably 2nd best. Staley has been kind of a disappointment.
Can Ray Brown suit up and play again?

I'm a big fan of Iupati though, let's hope he can last as long while being as effective as Jesse Sapolou.

I hope we dont spend anymore early draft picks on offensive line men. It seems like other teams have pieced together good lines with our rejects. Kyle Kosier in Dallas, and that guard on the falcons. I think his name is Dahl. We should have just kep Justin Smiley. Instead of having any of those guys we have Chilo No more OL through the draft.
