Now that Alex Smith is benched, we will be seeing a lot of "let's bash Singletary" threads.

Stubborn & naive 1980's football philosophy
Ding ding ding...
Singletary is following the exact same route as Mike Nolan...bend but don't break defense, 3 runs and a cloud of dust offense, and a game manager mindset at QB.
This mindset has led to the following records: 4-12, 7-9, 5-11, 7-9, 8-8, and 2-6. I think the San Francisco Giants scored more runs in the world series this past year than the 49ers have had in wins the last 5.5 seasons.

Agreed.
And I shall continue to say this. The man is attempting to play a naive brand of 80s football with a team that DOMINATED the 80s by playing modern day football.
Seriously if only Americans could get irony.

Sing's downfall began when he fired Martz. I said at the time that it was a bad move.
he didnt fire MArtz, Martz only wanted to be HC of this team

I vote for all of the above, plus leaving Chicago in the first place.

With that defense we had last year, (6th Ranked in PPG), if we had a real offensive coordinator like MIke Martz, we would have easily been a playoff team imo

"A one point difference wins the game" (Mike Nolan)

Please. Don't give us that identity load of crap, Mike. You screwed the pooch.
this.
in fact, all that stuff is problematic, and right behind the decision to fire Martz I would put his game management and preparation. But Martz was part of the reason Sing was made the full-time head coach in the first place. They might have not seen eye-to-eye, but somehow for those 8 games they found enough balance to get the team playing very well. Not sure why they couldn't have found a way to continue working together.
