i thought back when we had sean hill and alex smith last year that we should have used both qbs. Like for example throw sean hill in the first two quarters and throw alex smith in the second half. my idea was that this would create a huge problem for opposing defenses in terms of game planning and adjusting to the different qbs.
i understand coaches are sensitive to whoever the starter is and don't want to damage their confidence. But f that who cares about the starters feelings we need wins period.
i was talking to a friend about this strategy and he said it would put the coach's job in jeprody because they would appear to not know what they're doing.
what do you guys think about using two qbs on a regular basis to throw off defenses? is this a good strategy for the nfl?

im talking in general about this strategy. yeah for the rest of this season i'd be happy if alex is never the starter again. but last season i thought the strategy would have worked.

No. Sorry but an O needs to get used to a qb. You can bring one in for a few plays when he has specific skills eg a scrambling qb brought into a short ŷardage situation to add another facet, but not otherwise.

yea i think it would be best to stick with only one qb and that being troy. i hope he pulls of a win on sunday and shows that he can play and not just a one hit wonder.

im talking about this strategy in general. i also think troy smith should be the full time starter for the rest of the season especially if we win this week. not sure why you can't grasp the idea that im talking about this strategy in general. reading comprehension is important my friend.

That would be asking a lot from your O-line.

my friend, i understand the concept but i really think its a waste of time trying to do such a thing. for one the oline would have to be able to block, and since we have 2 rookies on the oline, it would be really hard for them to adjust. it would actually cause more confusion for us rather than the team. so i dont think it would be such a great idea my friend

i dont think you understand my friend. if our oline cant block for a qb thats familar with our system what makes you think they can block for another one who isnt as familar? its not about money and demand, what would happen if joe staley were to get hurt along with another.

Alex plays like crap from the 20 to the 20. but if you get him inside the rdzone he is money. Troy can run the offense till we enter the redzone. Then insert Alex.
I have no fing clue but its a thought.

Dumb idea. This staff can't gameplan for 1 QB. I shudder to think what would happen if they gameplanned for 2.

thats a whole different animal we are talking about, if we had a better oline, one would think our qb would have time to throw and actually make better plays instead of check downs and what not.
