IF and that's a big IF. Troy Smith can keep on playing like he did against the Broncos, then I'll give the 49'ers the edge.

The Rams are still on a rebuilding stage and giving the 49er's DEFENSE the confidence that the Offense can ACTUALLY score points through out the ENTIRE game will be a HUGE motivation for them to keep it up for 60 minutes.

Once the DEFENSE realizes that it's NOT strictly up to them to win games in the FOURTH quarter, then you'll see a little more effort from them.

Additionally ... there's light at the end of the tunnel and all of a sudden they find themselves in the thick of things.
