At least he put the ball in play. If that was Alex he would have thrown it out of bounds. At least Troy made something happen.

B.S. That was a terrible pass and Alex has made his fair share of them. We (Troy) got lucky, and I'll take it. But lets call a spade a spade, that was a terrible pass that we got lucky with.

That. And the only reason that worked was because Walker got away with a blatant PI.

Didn't see much of a reason there to call offensive PI, but I do easily agree with the bolded part above. Still glad it happened, as all we really want to do is win.
Lucky or not, it was a ballsy play with perfect timing, something Alex Smith wouldn't dream about. -Seriously, put Alex Smith in that situation he would have just rolled out of bounds, thrown a dumpy screen off to Gore, or a 6 yard check-down to Crabs (with Walker/Ginn open that far down-field) that would've been broken off on a deflection (and intercepted).

I agree with you about Alex on that play. I thought Troy Smith played to win the game not just to play it.

No

He directed Delaney to the right in the zone and when he threw it he stepped forward a tad for power before he fell back. Look at the film as someone we know would say.

Neither of the two DB was in position to INT the ball when it came down.

Just one game and most of it was awesomely sucking, but not counting this play he made other plays with mobility, while passing accurately and with heat while running. Did he ever throw it out of bounds on purpose, one? Not all passes, but enough to win the game; without any turnovers, and under pressure to bring the team back..

Ha, just don't win too many or Sing will take the credit and we will have him around till hell freezes over, and what about our high draft pick?!?!

THIS! I love the fact that Troy at least has the cajones to try!
It was a jump ball in between 2 Pro Bowl defenders... haha, man, this place is crazy with desperation to believe.

IF T. Smith does things like that and the more common results occur (turnovers) will NT still love it then?

Why do we have to start stupid threads to promulgate lies? I agree with those who say let's just be real about what happened. Troy played well all things considered. That pass was a poor decision, and we were very lucky that it didn't lead to a game changing TO.

Hoping for another win in our next game regardless of who is QB.
I must say, he moved around very well, looked like Vick and he improvised and directed the receiver which is something I never see Alex do. Looks like he is a super athletic QB and we will see soon if he has game beyond his athletic skills

I wonder what you are saying if it gets picked off. The throw was more luck than skill but the catch was more skill than luck. Dawkins wanted a flag but it wasn't a blatant PI attempt.
My 2 cents.. I give props where props are due. T.Smith Launched it on his back foot while running mind you and threw it 49yards and D.Love made a great catch..
Im not going to dogg A.Smith or anything but he couldnt throw over 49 yards accurately if he tried.
So i chalk this up to Skill on both T.Smith for putting it up and bein accurate and D.Love for catching it...

Lady luck rear's its head in every football game.. today .. we got lucky that our # 3 QB came in and got the win with zero Int's. He has a Bye week to learn more of the playbook and hopefully for the Rams game he gets to air it out and get some rhythm with the WR's

-DW
That throw showed a lot of different things, strength, confidence, skill, accuracy, and LUCK!

When I say luck it is not to belittle Troy's other attributes, but rather to point out a HUGE difference between the two Smiths.

I have said this before about Alex Smith, people always point to his stats to show he is not awful, that statistically he is average, or better. Alex lacks the intangible elements, confidence, leadership, and luck.

I saw all the intangibles on display yesterday, and it was great! Troy may or may not pan out but yesterday, his courage, skill, and luck gave me confidence in him and this team, and I an sure our players felt it too!

Go T Smith!
