Hi all

As some of you know, I do a bit of weekly writing in my part time for the UK based NFL website www.footballdiner.com , well today, one of our guys was at the media day and he caught up with a number of 49ers players and carried out quick question and answer sessions, below are the links to all of the interviews. I hope you enjoy reading them.
Football Diner. You've been making a lot of plays recently and scoring touchdowns - but the offense as a whole still needs to take a step forward. Is this the perfect opportunity with Troy at QB?

Vernon Davis. Yeah, I think it's a big opportunity no matter who we got at QB - I think we got three guys who can get it done. I like Troy - he has lot of potential just like the other two guys we have on the roster.

Patrick Willis
Q. How do you see Sunday playing out?

A. It's all about what team wants it the most and for us - despite what happened to Denver last week - we know that they're gonna come here to play against us thinking maybe this is an easy win. So we gotta come here and play hard this Sunday and every Sunday after.

Nate Clements
How do you get ready for gameday?
A. On the day of the game I come in early, get in the hot tub, get loose! I get my muscles warmed up and I listen to my iPad - I have a lot of music on there, a lot of music that gets me going and I just get ready for the game that way...
Ted Ginn Jr
Football Diner. What's it like to have your friend Troy Smith starting at quarterback?

Ted Ginn. It's great but it's kind of biased cos we're more than just friends, we're brothers. It's always great to see a good thing happening for your brother.

Troy Smith
Q. Troy, this is a situation where you're going to have reps with the 49ers' first team for the first time... What's your goal?

A. To continue to prepare like a madman! I think the easiest way to get through to your teammates and show you're serious about what's going on is to know exactly what your job is, know exactly what everybody expects of you and go out and execute.

Takeo Spikes
Q. Do you think there's any extra load on the defense this week with a new QB in place?

A. It ain't no different to be honest with you. Now Troy Smith's in, hopefully that will be a much needed spark and what we need as a whole. Coach mentioned this morning that you can't continue to do the same things and expect to get different results, so hopefully this change right here will be the spark that will energise not only the offensive side of the ball but special teams and defense.

Frank Gore
Q. What do you think is the main issue with the 49ers so far in 2010?

A. We've just gotta stop beating ourselves.

NFLuk's Neil Reynolds
Football Diner: Neil, what's the main storyline heading into the game?

Neil: For me, it's the big one that came out this week in that Troy Smith is going to start instead of Alex Smith. It's just a move that very nearly smacks of desperation, but it's about trying to light a fire under this offense. Troy Smith is someone who can make plays when it breaks down and Coach Singletary talked about his leadership earlier today - so maybe he can get this team going in the right direction. I think it's a brave move because David Carr was listed as the number two quarterback all season and there's been a bit of clamouring for Carr too. So I'm very interested to see what Troy Smith can do, and of course we've got two teams who are absolutely desperate for a win.

Does Neil know that Alex Smith is injured?

This quote by Spikes is the Alex Smith era in a nutshell.
Quite interested in your feedback from these as I approach doing the same Friday.

Thanks
