My money is on Solari when (not if) Singletary gets canned...

He's got his hands full coaching the line. I'd say Sullivan, the 9ers aren't using their wides anyway.

Just leave Singletary in, it's probably his last season as a HC for awhile so let him at least finish it out. He may not be a tactical genius but he's not Mike Nolan, he deserves to go out at the end of the season, just like any other coach who gets fired.

Nolan had a less talented team. Sing has no idea about the modern game. Yelling at his players, arguing with refs, embarrassing players in post game interviews, run based offenses, sticking with less talented guys because he named them starters at the beginning of the season is all old school. But I think he found some new school ways of humiliated himself like benching vet players through the media and pulling his pants down. The plug needs to be pulled ASAP so they can start working on next year NOW.

Yeah, Sing has been a micro-tyrant, but Nolan exceeded all levels of what a slime ball was (Nolan literally HAD to be removed prematurely cause that locker room would have castrated him eventually).
I agree in leaving Singletary in till the end of the season. But I think he'll be gone during the bye week.

The Front Office will let Sing finnish, A wise move for many reasons

Then he's gone

In the meantime, I think Baalke should be instructed (by Jed) to protect the roster
and not allow Sing to make roster moves, and maybe bump up a couple PS guys
to the 53, like Nate and Brock

John York: 49ers committed to Singletary through season

I asked York if Singletary would be the coach through the season. "Yes, he's our coach," he quickly replied. A Comcast Sports report earlier this week cited a source who said that there were grumbles from York and son Jed over Singletary following Sunday's 23-20 loss to Carolina. "I'm not sure why somebody would have said that," John York said. "We were grumbling because we lost the game. I think we grumble any time we lose a game." Like Singletary, York insisted that the 49ers would snap out of their funk if they managed to stop making mistakes and turning the ball over. "It didn't help for us to have Alex injured," he said. "But we'll deal with that separately.

He also said we're going to win the west. Given his coach the vote of confidence until he runs out.

The problem with an interim HC is that by pure luck this team has to eventually win some games. If they string them together in a row towards the end, all of a sudden we have the same situation with had with Sing. Someone fills in after the bye week and goes 5 - 3 and all of a sudden Jed York is giving him a 4-year contract.

That being said, I don't think anyone ever expected Singletary to completely implode this year. I mean even for him, this year has been pretty bizarre. Maybe having a non-crazy person as a coach would be better for team morale going into the future.

I also don't like the fact that Dallas and maybe Minnesota could be looking for new head coaches next year. Both destinations have to be considered much more desirable. And hasn't Cowher always been associated with Carolina? Throw a tanking san diego team and that's more competition.

One of the beat writers, I think Barrows, mentioned Manusky as an interim HC.

Whatever you think of Peter King, he mentioned a couple weeks ago that the 49ers front office did not believe either coordinator was a suitable interim HC.

Rathman?

yeah well sing isnt a suitable HC either.....

Let Singletary finish out the year as head coach and get someone like Marc Trestman as head coach (yeah he got fired as Offensive Coordinator here, but that was when 12-4, #3 ranked offense without a Super Bowl wasn't good enough)

You may as well stop your spectulating...Dr York says Singletary's his coach this season. The only potential light at the end of that tunnel is they'll wait 'til after the season to bring in an outside coach. But, the team needs more than that....they need a genuine football guru...someone like Parcells, to be the man in charge and bring in both a top GM and head coach. That's the only way this team will get turned around.

For those that think firing him before the end of the season is a possibility look around. Jerry Jones isn't gonna fire Wade Phillips before the end of the season, ditto Jax and Del Rio, etc.

That would be my choice. I have posted that here on a couple of occasions.

Solari has been around the NFL for about 15 years in several different coaching positions. An OL coach is a sound choice for OC or HC as the role and abilities of the OL dictate a great deal about the offense.

Also, Solari was with the 49ers back in the '90s...a good thing.
We really don't have any one on staff now that I'd feel comfortable being even a short timer HC. Sing hired such piss poor assistants it now gives him job security. Kind of ironic huh? I say gut it out till we can do a proper job search after the season. I guess the key question is: Is there anyone on staff who could do better than Sing AND we might wamnt to preview as a new HC? I think not.
