FINALLY ...We werent so predictable running the ball, this was the first time all season I have saw a pitch out to Gore, and some running plays off tackle with some misdirection, THANK YOU
About time they start taking the predictability out of the running game, I was banging my head against the wall all season watching them repeatedly run frank up the middle again and again and again and again, now I hope we follow this up with some more creativity

play calling was still conservative. Can't wait until Singletary is gone.

This!
We dont even have close to average play calling. We dont use all of our weapons enough (Davis, Crabs, Westbrook, Dixon, Ginn, even Bynham). It feels like we run a series of random plays without any over all strategy. We go from ultra conservative to trying to pass 50 yards down field. We still are sending out 1 WR to be covered by 3 DBs.
Imagine how much better we would be if we subed in Dixon and Westbrook for a few series a game? Why is Morgan streaking downfield instead of Ginn? Why is our All pro TE only touching the ball twice a game? Why can't we hit Crabs back to back, yet we can hand the ball off to Gore 5 consecutive times?
Johnson's hands may very well be tied, but I give him a D-. I'm not sure how the play calling could get much worst at the NFL level (If it wasn't for Jimmy Raye that is)?
Second. I gave it a C+ just because he is working us out of Jimmy Raye's mess to begin with.

i think the grade relies on execution from the offense. The offense didn't do squat in the first half! so while I like the play action call and some of the other plays, the drops or bad throws= bad out put. 2nd half was better, mainly cause gore found holes and smith found open players. Over all play calling was a B, execution 1st half=F 2nd half= b-

it seems that we only have two running plays. They really need to start running some counters. I don't think I"ve seen one counter play this year.

I think MJ's offensive will continue to evolve as he gets to learn more about our personnel.

this. Lets not forget he's only been an OC for 3 weeks. Most get an entire off season to get their s**t together. Already he's doing a better job than Raye.

My only real complaint is the conservative, "play not to lose", approach when we are leading. We need to come out slinging or at least attempting to score another TD. I do not trust this team with a lead any less that 10 points...

We need to attack and develop a killer instinct, there is too much focus on plays that are designed for short yardage, yesterday was the first quick slant I've saw all season, hopefully more plays are designed to hit the receivers in stride to get more YAC, take the kidgloves off and lets start to attack, thats what 49er football has always been about, not runs up the middle all game and put into obvious passing situations on 3rd down, our lack of creativity is what has been killing us, we have the talent to run a very potent offense, hopefully Sing lets the offensive coaching staff run plays that better suit our talent on the roster and not try to force the issue of being a power running offense, our running game will be more effective when we use the pass to set up the run, getting that 8th man out of the box should be our focus, not sending Gore into a buzzsaw all game long

i like the progression. just kills me with being so persistent with sending gore up the gut insstead of off tackle. good halftime adjustment though.
to be fair, the oline is everything you'd expect being re-worked with rooks so pass calls/qb plays can only go so far until it's corrected.

He really needs to take advantage of our big, quick/fast, bruising RB: Dixon. However, when Dixon was in, he used him very well:
1. TD run called back
2. Used that run to decoy him into the playaction to Vernon for the TD
Awesome setup but Dixon and Westbrook need to be used more. Gore is the best all around (I think Dixon may be able to challenge him on this) but there are things Dixon and Brian do better than Gore.

the playcalling was alright, but then again anything looks better than Jimmy Rayes awful playcalling.
i think Heitmann and Sims not playing on the line is a huge reason were 1-5. last season they played all year, and we looked alot better. this year the fans all want to blame Alex Smith when we have 5 young OL who have no clue what theyre doing. Joe Staley is the veteran, and hes still learning.
going with 5 kids on the line was a mistake from the start. we shouldve looked more into signing a long time vet in the offseason. when we had Larry Allen, i think it really helped disguise how bad and young the line was at the time.
