If Singletary is gone after this season, are we giving up on him too fast?

I think the man problem is he needed to be a position coach first. I am okay hiring a Defensive coordinator as a head coach because they called the game plan on Defense. They had to learn about the other teams offense and game plan to stop it. When they become head coaches they know how to game plan and have an understanding of offenses. Singletary never learned that... all he had to do as LB coach/Assistant HC was motivate the LB and give a good speech before the game. He never had to game plan for anything, so its not shocking 2.5 years into being the head coach he has no idea how to do that. Its also a problem he is a hall of fame player... you don't really see those kind of players succeed as coaches because they cant understand why their players cant do what they did. They also have HUGE egos and wont admit it to themselves when things go wrong because they were a great player and never fail.

Jcool, i posted this so many times, i am sick of it. You are right, but it just doesn't seem to resonate. BM is completely unqualified for this job, start to finish. You don't believe it, check out his pressers, and you will witness a guy who is way out of his element. This game passed him by in 1985, or whenever he left pro ball.

And i wonder that because Mike Ditka and Dave McGinnis with a group of alumni pushed him for the head coaching job at Baylor University in 2002 when he had never been a coach at any level... did that show him he didn't need to do much, that his hall of fame career was enough to be a head coach.

A coach like Mike Singletary (no previous experience) is usally hired on a short leash. Guys like him show a flash of brilliance, and are promoted on a whim. With that said, they have to really show that they understand the Xs and Os of football.
Guys like Mike Singletary and Mike Tice dont make it far in this league. Dont expect Sing to have a coaching gig anytime soon, unless someone hires him as LBs coach.
