No way was it all Clements' shoulders. Dude made an outstanding Int and almost ran it back. Yes he fumbled away the game but at least the Falcons were pinned back deep in their territory. The defense still had a chance to stop them and they didnt.

Alex Smith's poor play were the reason that we couldn't score more then 7 points on offense. This last loss was more reflection of the poor play from Alex then anything else. Only scoring 7 points on offense is the number 1 reason we lost that game. Only scoring 7 points on offense you deserve to lose the game.

Really? Because with 1:07 left on the clock at the Falcons' seven yardline, the 49ers could have sat on the ball three times (Falcons had three timeouts), following by a 45 second run off and field goal attempt.

This would have given the Falcons 22 seconds (minus field goal attempt) to return a kick-off and score a touchdown without any timeouts.

This play was the defining moment of the game. Not an Alex Smith interception.

GAMEOVER, SON

And had the offense actually scored more than one TD, it wouldnt matter. That's the point! When you do not score, the team in put in perdicaments like this.

My point is still valid.

Had the 49ers not scored a touchdown and attempted a field goal, th Falcons would have had the ball with less than one minute on the clock and no timeouts.

The likelihood of a field goal reduces greatly.

timeout after 3rd down
4th down and the clock is stopped

Even Ryan Leaf had a few glory moments. I'd like to see Alex string together a few good games. Too much to ask for? How about a few good quarters?

I don't bash Alex just to bash Alex. But accuracy is the key to being a successful QB in this league. And he just doesn't have it.
