Yeah, I was a huge fan of Zac Keasey and Mark Roman too.

Being a fan of a team does NOT necessarily mean that you have to be a fan of EVERY player and/or coach on the team.

You think that all Raider fans were fans of Jamarcus or did they want him gone? Laker fans truly LOVE Luke Walton and Sasha Vujacic right?

As a fan, don't you root for the team to do well? root for it's players to do well? why would i want to root against any player that is on the team for which i want to do well?

i was certainly rooting for Sasha to make those free throws to seal the championship last year. is he my favorite player? no Kobe is, but every time Sasha shoots, i root for him to make it.

Agreeing to disagree. "Rooting for someone" and "being a fan" are 2 totally different things. I'm a fan of only a handful of individual Niner players. We definitely root for the team's success overall.

You're probably a fan of Kobe and Pau...but you really can't say that you're a fan of DJ Mbenga. Don't even try it, you just can't.

Deal... I do enjoy the few times I see Mbenga doing well, it's funny to watch and usually means we are blowing someone out.

to be honest he seems like an excellent qb to have in a two min drill that has always been his strngths even in the redzone hes good

everything else needs a lot of work

Alex will always throw a pick! That's what he does best, other than roll out to the right and overthrow his receivers.

OMG hahaha I was like that last Sunday as well!!! In fact I totally called that pick in the game-day thread where he threw that precision rocket spiral to Curtis Lofton off the slant!!!

-Smith figured it was gonna be a pass so gorgeous that none of his receivers deserved the honor of catching it, and since Smith was pist at Crabtree for making him throw all those picks (cause factually Crabtree made him throw all those horrible 'overhead' passes) Alex figured, "dude, you don't deserve my greatness."

A lot of you guys would end up having dead relatives.....

We'd run a draw up the middle and then punt the ball and allow our defense to hold them to a game winning field goal!

I for one have ZERO confidence in Alex.. however as a fan i always have Hope.. this is why i watch the games every sunday if its on TV or the Net .. The debacle i saw last week all i can say is.. we drafted the wrong QB. I have nothing against the kid.. I just hope at the end of the year Singletary and Alex are gone.. bring in a quality HC who will make the decision on bringing in a Quality QB. I wish Alex nothing but the best. he would be a good # 2 QB somewhere else... but a starter he is not.

I'm Alex Smith confident. It might not be pretty, but I think he is going to get the job done. In fact, I wish he played under that kind of pressure all game, because it seems to bring out the best in him. Also, we normally go to the shotgun and spread out the receivers in that situation, which is something I would also like to see a lot more of.

Smith has always excelled in the spread. Which is why I find it strange the coaching staff doesn't try and implement the spread a little more into our offense.

Honestly, once the 4th quarter starts, I think, "So, how is this team gonna find a way to lose today?" Surely enough, they always find a creative way to get it done. The same goes through my head with Alex Smith...when he has the ball in the 4th quarter, I'm always holding my breath, expecting an INT. If all of us can feel it, I'm sure Smith is thinking about it too...he's playing scared. He's the Barry Zito of the 49ers right now. He needs to man up and start attacking.

This is one of the most insightful analyses I've seen in this thread. You may be right, a young confident QB's might throw 4 picks and 4 TD's in the same game and win it! Alex has never just ""cut it lose" he is to tense, if you look at most successful QB's their rookie seasons are riddled with picks, Farve was traded away by Atlanta, too many picks! Alex has never been able to unclench his ass cheeks and play, he does not look like he is having fun out there. He has all the physical skills, he just needs to loosen up, and don't know if he can, or if an intense coach like Singletary will let him!
