If the game is lost, our season is over and he should be gone a.s.a.p.
I've been not necessarily a supporter or Alex, but didn't believe the weight of all the defeats should be on his shoulders; if he loses this game it speaks volumes.
maybe some of us come off as if we blame him 100% for our loses....I'll just speak for myself.
I don't put all the blame on him....actually I just think he doesn't do enough for us to win games...and I value the QB position sol highly that if that is not happening then I want to move on... I don't mind interceptions early in games, as long as he fights back and helps us win a game.
I don't expect 300 yard passing games....in fact I believe Shaun Hill and Rattay used to have games where they threw for like 200-250 yrds with 2TDs but their ratings were around 100...and they played well enough to win, despite if we lost because of other problems...
imo, I just think it is unfair to the other players who are playing on a high level or trying to....or just a normal level...lol.
I think other players get unfairly blamed for Alex's struggles....like say the Oline...no Oline is perfect, but to me they block well enough for Alex to get rid of the ball...or for him to still step up in the pocket, just for a second longer to find the open man.
same thing with the receiver....they used to catch alot of flack around here....even when we had Issac Bruce...people around here were saying, they need to get separation...because Alex was either throwing the ball too late and the cbs were able to break things up....or Alex would check down., even when he had time.. (and forum posters who went to the game would post later in the night how there were receivers running open)
but when Shaun started, he was making Bruce look like he was semi young again..lol...had Bruce school the youngins on the Buffallo Bills on the road. Because Shaun had great timing on his passes...even if they looked like ducks sometimes.
so, am I saying Alex plays like this all the time?....no...but I, imo, it happens way more than it should especially after 6 years of playing or watching from the sidelines.
I think there is an extra energy that a QB can bring to a team....imo, I saw that when Shaun was successful here early on.....as well as with how the Rams are playing....it seems they are feeding off Bradford, offense and defense. I just don't think Alex brings or shows that on a consistent level...if he just plays average through out the year and we make the playoffs, I still would hope we would not give him a huge contract....one that his Agent might push for, just because Alex Smith took the 9ers to the playoffs in the NFC West. He needs to dominate for a big contract.
