I agree. Come on man, we average 12.7 points/game!

Tells us that Smith throws TDs in the red zone and doesn't throw picks in the red zone.
Joe Flacco had a 72.7 rating with 11 TDs 3 INTs.
And now it's officially gone full circle and were back to my original point. Alex is #32 in points per attempt. So, this #2 in Red zone efficiency is an interesting stat that doesn't tell us much...

it means that he does not throw very many TD's period. He does not get his team to the redzone very often but when he does usually keeps you in a good position for 3 points.
Oh, and that he is almost never a threat to score from outside the 20.

Why? Because it doesn't agree with your arguments? How inconvenient...

Do you extend the red zone to the 30 for 31 other teams or just this one?

You were talking about flukes. I wanted to know which of Smith's seasons are flukes.
Let me grade them so you don't think I'm asking as an "Alexcuser".

It tells us that Smith doesn't suck everywhere...? Maybe there is hope? Maybe a change at OC will make a difference?
I think that was why the OP started the thread anyway.

You know what, I think Danimal may be closer to the truth... He's playing so conservatively in the red zone that he doesn't give up the rock; but, also doesn't score many points. Maybe the new OC will force him to take more chances and we may possibly start walking away with 7 instead of 3...

simple explanation. Smith can only throw the ball 5 yards deep. In the redzone, there are no long pass plays.

Actually, if you look back to last season, Smith and the offense were one of the top teams in the league scoring in the red zone. They've had mistakes and turnovers in the red zone this season.
