Martz would have been the perfect counter-balance to him, but in the end, his oversized ego won't let him. He always said its his "philosophy" but it is really his ego about this b.s. "physical" style of football.

Ok so who is available mid season? Your not gonna grab an assistant from another team. College? There mid season as well. How many coaches worth their salt get up and leave mid season?

It' the best option at the time. Your gonna have to deal with it till the season is over some where.

After he got a 2-5 team to finish 5-4 I was all for giving him a shot. After 8-8 last year I had all I could take of him and wanted him gone.

That's incredible

10-6? f**k no. That would mean we can only lose 3 more games at most. And we've lost 3 in a row so far to start off the season.

AT LEAST he got us to .500!! something the niners hadnt achieved since 2002!!!!!!

But now they are three under with three played. That they were just so flat, seemingly disorganized, predictable, out of sync and just plain terrible in those two road loses is what is so disturbing. Can't help but to question Singletary now. Both he and Jimmy Raye say Raye was doing what Sing wanted him to do. Then you messed up Mike. You messed up more than Raye did and he was the one who got fired (thankfully). Now the whole season is in the hands of an unproven coach. And Singletary is saying that he isn't really changing his offensive philosophy. He wants to be "physical." How about just scroing points. I liked it a lot better when the Niners were called a finesse team and score tons of points as compared to a physical team that can't score points and consider it an achioevement to get a play in on time.

Never questioned his passion, just his experience as head coach.

Love is a litte strong...I did like the hire, and now I dont hate it...I just want us to do more offensively. I am still drinking the Kool-Aid...Just not as much

A defensive minded coach who believes in smash mouth offense is a hard sell in SF and not my cup of tea. Most of us grew up on the passing game, going all the way back to Albert and Tittle, and reveled in the Walsh era. One of Singletary's first statements as head coach, a response to a question, was that the 9ers were not going to try and fool people. What kind of thinking is that? Defensive, old school...OLD OLD SCHOOL. Raye fit into that pattern and did what he was told. I did not like the hire and will only relent if the 9ers start using creativity on offense.

pops had me drinkin it before we got the sugar in '81...just waitin for the 2nd helpin to come back around.

I was at the Redskins game -- the final game of the season. As we walked into the parking lot -- you could hear this ghostly sound of a thousand radios at once -- and a live broadcast from the locker room where Dingleberry was annointed as our saviour. This is the same game where I was searching for the Webzone parking lot gang in vain -- and as it turned out -- I was parked three spots from where the gang was.

Nope -- I was really hoping that the Niners would go out and grab an offensive mind like Jeff Tedford. I was resigned to the thought of Dingleberry -- because the team did respond to his style after he took over from Nolan. Still -- I had my concerns. And he had the team playing fairly well until someone made the STUPID decision to elevate Alex Smith back into the starting lineup.

The team's been sliding downhill ever since that happened.

That dad-gum kool aid really got me drunk.
