After 3 weeks of Alex Smith, Can he Lead Us to the Promised Land ?

I don't even understand why this is a question anymore.

Alex is a rhythm QB who is wholly dependent on play calling. It's the truth. If our play calling is like the NO game, the SEA game (from last year) or any one of our successful passing games...yes Alex can lead us. But we are just wrong about Smith. He's not the type to just make the one or three plays we need him to make in between Gore running. We need to use the pass to set up the run. Sooner we realize that the better.

Smith is the wrong fit for what Sing wants to impose. He's just not that guy. He's a guy that needs to start quick, and keep it going.

Yes, but not with this coaching staff. Where was the defense today, did they do anything to help Anthony Davis or did he struggled by himself. Did they just tell him to play through it... Why was there so many frequent check down to Gore. Is that the coaches way of getting Gore the ball when they couldn't make the run inside or go down field to Vernon Davis. When all else failed get the ball to Gore and let him save us from our mediocre gameplan and adjustments. Did they ask Smith to be conservative with the decisions with the football and let the defense control the game. But wait, the defense got sliced and diced, but there's no other game plan. Defense around the league realized if they take away Gore and Vernon Davis, there no other plan in the book from the coaches. It's Seattle game plan blue print to beat the Niners. The Saint couldn't careless because they know they can always outscore you. They don't need defense to win the game.

Please get rid of Singletary, Raye and Manusky.

In all honesty, do you think that Smith can fit a WCO type style, where the majority of the responsibility lays in the arm and decision making of the QB ? An offensive scheme that requires the pass to set up the run ?

Whether you choose a run heavy or pass heavy scheme, somewhere along the line the QB has to shine. In essence, this offense was better tailored for Smith. Im not a fan of the pound it up the middle type ball, but I think run heavy to set up the pass was more suitable to Smith's strengths. Unfortunately, his poor decision making has allowed defenses to stack the box, shut down the run, and forced him to make the pass.......and he still doesnt do it.

You question Smith's decision making. But did it ever occurred to you that the coach may have asked Smith to be conservative seeing that we turned the ball over 3-4 times in the Saints game. i know you don't like Smith but sh*t ...

I honestly believe if the OC can come up with a competent gameplan that sets alex up for success. I think he can be a good QB. thats a big if tho
