After 3 weeks of Alex Smith, Can he Lead Us to the Promised Land ?

So this year was supposed to be a clean slate for the guy. Apparently, his semi-good season from last year wiped out the bad taste from everyone's mouth, in terms of his play from 4 years prior. Now we've gotten a better sense of what to expect from him from now and the future (god forbid), should he be "the one". From what you've seen from him, is he still capable of making this team a perennial Superbowl contender ?

not if the play calls don't put him in a situation to succeed. After MNF the o-line was great and everyone was saying, "This is the Smith that the 49ers have been looking for." 1st and 3rd game, sacks, no running game, no help for Alex or the offense.

from watching today's game, it was pretty obvious Alex was holding the ball too long on more than on occasion....which also led to sacks.

EVEN when he did have time....he held it too long and eventually threw it to the flats.

EVEN when he had a free play, because of offsides by the defense, he STILL threw it to the flats.

yeah no help for Alex, right?

If he doesn't win next week, they should cut him. End of story.

Don't care about anything or anyone else, if he doesn't win there is absolutely no point keeping him around any longer. He won't be coming back so cut the rope. It will be singletary's last chance to save himself and his gay lover Jimmy Raye. That can only explain his stead fast defense of a loser such as Raye

With a good coaching staff, maybe. A good HC and good coordinators (say Crennel and Weis) would do us wonders.
