What would you do or have done differently? I want legitimate answers about things that can be controlled and are under your control. Don't say things like "dump the QB cuz he throws too many picks" without having a better option at QB or "teach the DB's to secure to ball better at the end of a game" thoughts?

First of all, I would have never gotten rid of Shaun Hill unless we were able to get someone better to come here. There's no way I allow Hill to be shipped off and David Carr to be picked up. Why downgrade at a key position? Second, I would have fired Raye in the offseason and looked for someone who can actually call plays. Third, Alex would have been benched after the Chiefs game. Fourth, Anthony Davis would never have started the season. I would have went with Alex Boone to see what he has, and if he bombed, I would have sat him for Barry Sims. Fifth, Chilo Rachal would be riding the pine for the rest of the season. Sixth, I would have made sure we got Michael Westbrook and Anthony Dixon more touches because it would give the defenses different looks and make them change up their packages and calls.

Do I need to continue? Because I can go all night.

I can agree with a lot of that. However in regards to Hill I don't think that was his decision, We saw what we had with Carr today so not sure if benching Smith woulda helped. I think if Boone were as good as we would like him to be he'd be playing but we don't know for sure. It seems owners want their first round picks to play for whatever reason so I think Davis was gonna start regradless. I don't know how good Dixon is with Blitz pickup yet but I know Westbrook is good at it.
If I were Sing I would drop my pants and kick my own a$$.
Bench Chilo
Start Simms, Lupati, Baas, Heitman, Staley
Bench Goldson
Start Reggie Smith
Have open comp between Smith, Troy and Nate (winner is starter)
Change the playbook insert new runs, like sweeps, things off tackle
Start Zeigler, Crabs,
Use Westbrook ALOT more f**k Gore he doesnt run the team he can cry
Change the D's scheme the 3-4 is ight but have the corners not back off so much, apply pressure, use complex blitzes, just be creative like pitsburgh
Less Haralson more Laboy, brooks

I said this at the beginning of the year and no one wanted to listen to me. I told you all Singletary has a way of "asking" his coaches if players can be "ready" it's more like - "Davis can be ready to start by the first game, CAN'T HE." Solari - "Of course Mike."

Ive felt the same way too, Simms is our best LT also

Well the team has to be the HCs vision. Hes the one that has to make the personnel decisions. He just made alot of stupid decisions. I thought drafting Davis was a bad decision because he is a project and we all knew it. Should of went with someone who was a little more ready to play now. I thought trading up in the first and losing a pick was stupid also. But he thought he could get this team of hogs to run the ball every play for 5+ yards a down. We all know thats crazy.
So I was having a few beers at Hooters after the game to drown my sorrows when I see two guys walk in wearing 49er jerseys. Two things struck me as odd.

1) They were Manny Lawson jerseys.
2) Not many 49er fans in these parts.

I couldn't help myself and went over to say hello and talk about the game. Turns out they were on their way back from the game and were related to Manny Lawson. So I cut to the chase and asked him to be honest with me. Tell me what Manny thinks about this season. His reply sounds similar to what I read daily on this message board.

1) The 49er players are very disappointed and embarrased about this season so far.
2) Internally the defense is starting to turn on the offense due to their lack of productivity. They are always on the field and are getting tired and worn down.
3) Many players are begging for Nate Davis to be the quarterback and realize that Smith and Carr are not the answer. His exact quote was, "the players know who has the strongest arm on the team."
4) The players are blaming Singletary for what is happening and point to the fact that he micro-manages everything...particularly the offense.
5) The offensive skill players (TE, WR, RB) are growing increasingly frustrated with the way they are being utilized and feel like their talents are being wasted.

There is no way for me to validate the authenticity of these comments but they seem completely plausible and the gentlemen, who were very nice, did not give me any reason to not believe them.

I just hate the fact that my once-proud franchise is AGAIN the laughing-stock of the NFL. And so soon after they were in the same shape just a few short years ago.

The York family, Eddie's gambling problem and Alex Smith have ruined the former flagship franchise of the NFL.

Very Depressed,

that's cool. the defense needs to not worry about the offense; they need to worry about biting on double fakes, and their s**tty coverage in general, lack of a passrush, inability to create turnovers, and the way they tend to fold completely when they have a chance to make a game-saving or game-winning play.

Exactly. They've had the game on the line a few times and failed to win. Look at the NO game, the ATL game, and even today's game. THese guys seem like they're getting into a habbit of making excuses and whining and pointing fingers. This team needs to be taken apart and rebuilt.
It's pathetic for the defense to be frustrated in the offense when they made Matt Moore look like Tom Brady. This team is overmatched and outprepared in every single facet.
Nate Davis. Make it happen Sing, please.

It's not really going to fix anything but with nothing left of the season we might as well see what he has. But Sing needs to be kicked out on his ass whether he plays Nate Davis or not. I'm done with this fool.

yeah, its really sad. If our problems were only on offense, i would feel a lot better about it. We still seem to have decent "statistical rankings" somehow, but our defense has been pretty bad this year. Not only are they not clutch, they just get burnt to easily, and the playcalling has been equally uncreative and disappointing as the offensive playcalling. We cannot generate ANYTHING in terms of pressure or turnovers. The secondary has been awful. The D-line has been mediocre (J.Smith has a motor but hasn't been able to finish a lot of plays, and no one around him has done much either). The linebackers are a mystery. We have the best in the league but he can't do it alone. Bowman is out of his depth. Spikes makes some great plays but he won't last forever. Lawson is OK, and Haralson is invisible. LaBoy and Brooks are okay rotational guys, but they haven't made an impact with their chances.

The pieces aren't anywhere near in place. It sucks. We need (at least) a new starting OLB, ILB, DE, DT, CB, S. A new coaching staff might change things, if its a good one, because they might get a lot more out of the players we have than we're getting now. But I'm not optimistic. We are headed for some really dark days, I think.

Yeah I dunno. We have a lot of stuff to replace. To be honest though it wouldn't surprise me if the OP just made this up to pimp Nate Davis. Like it seems rather suspicious that it's a cousin? But I dunno, he could be telling the truth. To be honest I think we need to ditch the 3-4. We haven't been able to build for it correctly, no pass rushing OLBs and a burned secondary. We have certain DL for the 4-3 that would be good, but in a 3-4 they are just part time players. Our DL in a 4-3 looks like this:

Smith/RJF/Ray Mac/Haralson or LaBoy(who has been a full time DE in a 4-3 before)

LB in 4-3:
Bowman/Willis/Someone else maybe McKillop

I'm not counting Franklin because he's getting paid a lot and his play has been mediocre, I don't think he'll be back next year, and I'm not counting Lawson or Spikes either because they're both FAs and we have younger guys who could play as 4-3 LBs. But in the 4-3 we have more pass rushers on our DL and our LBs get to play sideline to sideline more rather than relying on the OLBs for the pass rush. Then just spend money on the secondary and we'd have a decent defense.
