On the bad snap it looked to me like Baas thought Smith would be under center and he snapped it to his rear and lost the grip and the ball went flying.

I'd heard this somewhere else too, but how do you not know the difference between someone standing with their hands between your cheeks and someone standing 5 yards away?

1 play...

true but it was also an extremely brutal play, pretty much led to 9 pts

Yep. It directly resulted in 2 points, then gave the Saints a short field to put up another 7.

Singletary is an immediate within distance view kind of guy. I'm sure it will be considered once Heittman comes back and he (one of our top 5 offensive lineman) is not playing on the field when he was a very good RG.
well, Baas has played pretty well. Can Heitman back up at the G positions?

I'm not sure about Chilo coming back. I've never been impressed with him.

Heitmann hasn't played Guard in five years.

He's undersized for a guard in this scheme.

Starting him over Adam Snyder would be a mistake, let alone Chilo Rachal.

Keep Baas at C and Heitmann to RG would solidify our line. Anything with Rachal on the bench is good IMO...

If they really like Baas at Center, why not move Heitmann to RG? Heitmann started out a Guard in the NFL and was pretty darn good. I dont see a weakness in a line looking like:

Staley...Iupati...Baas...Heitmann...Davis

And Baas only played Center for one year in College. What's your point?

When he played RG, he was one of our best linemen. When he played Center, we couldn't gain 1 yard many, many times along with the front of the pocket being pushed back.

He would make for a very solid guard and do you actually think Chilo or Snyder are better RG's than what Heittman would provide us?

I'm definintely not a Chilo fan right now. I would love to see Heitmann back at RG. I remember him shutting down Warren Sapp back when he played Guard

To be fair, that one bad snap of Baas's play cost us 2 points and an offensive drive.
