I'm disappointed that I'm writing this prior to Week 4 even beginning, but I think the time to fire Mike Sinlgetary is now. It doesn't matter if we win or lose this weekend, we need leadership now more than ever. Michael Lewis quitting on the team has a lot to do with Singletary. I believe Mike probably didn't want to bench him, but it is obvious that the ownership is bypassing Mike at this point in time and forcing his hand on issues. In other words, Mike Sinlgetary is no longer really the head coach, and I'm sure everyone in the locker room knows it.
Lets bring the embarrassment to an end, lets get this ship back on track. The talent is here to win now, and as fans, we deserve to see the 49ers piling up Ws and not Ls!
With all due respect, it is insane to fire him now. Let the season play out before making any knee-jerk emotional decisions. Ultimately, after the 49ers finish 5-11/6-10 or perhaps worse, he will probably be let go.
What you and a lot of fans are failing to look at is the big picture. The 49ers have a storied history, but that's in the past. This is no longer considered the dream job to have for coaches. The 49ers are essentially the NFC version of the Raiders. While one has an owner that is seen as a prick that meddles, the other is seen as hands-off, but incompetent. What makes you or anyone for that matter think they'll land some great coach? Based on their track record, what makes you think they are capable of finding a diamond in the rough (like a Payton, Whisenhunt, Sparano, etc.)?
What if Jed decides Mike is not at fault and that they just need to tweak the team (STARTING WITH THE QB POSITION)?
