SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS VS. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS GAMEDAY THREAD (Week 1, 2010)

Do you guys honestly believe that these Hawks can score over 20 points on our D? Really? I think we are overestimating Hasselbeck's ability to circumvent our D's ability to stop them.

I just don't see it happening, not with their makeshift OL. I see us getting some serious pressure on him and causing TOs. I really don't see them scoring more than a TD and two FGs...13 points, tops!

I know our secondary can get burned at times, but all through our preseason we have been able to apply pressure on the QB especially with the inside blitz. It is nice to know we have a new pass rusher...

...Mr. Patrick Willis. Is there anything you can't do? Willis will keep this D unit focused I trust.

I would love me a shut out and Earl Thomas getting burned by Ginn and Gore, Ginn over the top and Gore mowing him down.

At least, that is what I want.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll referred to likely Week 1 starting LT Tyler Polumbus as "Troy" four times in Wednesday's press conference.
Just the situation into perspective. Polumbus graded out as one of the NFL's poorest tackles regardless of side last season. The 49ers' defense is a highly recommended Week 1 fantasy start. Matt Hasselbeck isn't.

Yes, I can see SEA doing all of these things because they are an NFL team. However, Pete Caroll is in over his head and it almost seems as though he was a better coach with the Jets than he is now because he seems to be pumped full of USC NCAA pride of success and invulnerability thinking he is the best coach ever.

It will be SEA's head coach, not the team, that will be brought back down to Earth from USC heaven and slapped in the face.
