Is Baas permanent answer at center? | Page 11

If David Baas continues to show improvement into the regular season will he be able to nail down the starting job at center even after heitmann comes back? What do y'all think?

Baas is owing Center right now.

Move Heitman back to guard. I think Baas is doing a good job at center. We are lucky.

i'd much rather see Bass at center even if and when E. Heitman is healthy. I swear E. Heitman always gave away the snap by bopping his head just before snapping the ball. even a high school team would pick that apart. Bass for some reason reminds me of juggernaut in the middle of the O-Line...don't ask me why; he just does.

I have no beef with either guy being the starting center, though I will say that Baas is undoubtedly stronger at the point of attack. Too many times last year Heitman would be pushed into the backfeild or at best hold his ground.

I've been wanting to see Heitmann replaced since 2007, so this has been a long time coming for me. I'm pulling for Baas big time. And yes, the line does look a lot more stable with him out there. Whether Heitmann gave away the snap or not is hardly relevant in comparison with the way he was routinely shoved into the backfield on short yardage situations.

I really like the way our Oline is progressing. Baas over Hietmen wouldn't be bad, but I'm a little concerned with the Baas injury history.

Whatever happens, it is nice to know we have quality depth at the position. I think Baas is the better player at center at this stage in the game, but Heitmann is obviously a more than serviceable backup.

The only thing I guess to keep in mind is that he's probably not seeing very complicated defensive strategies at the moment. As you know, it's not just about power, it's the mental part of the game. Let's see what happens when we start getting heavy blitzs up the middle.

I don't disagree. But I think Baas has plenty of smarts to pick up the mental aspect. As for the power-game, it is no contest. Heitmann is a big sissy in comparison.

Watch Heitmann in that first highlight. That was two years ago! He is even weaker now. That is why we can't convert on third and short and those are the types of situations that can determine wins and losses. Minnesota was a classic example.
