Well f*ck most of you for not believing in my foresight!
sounds like you need a hobby to relieve some stress in your life.
My bad...I was drunk when I wrote this!

the coaching staff especially jimmy raye doesnt like the guy period he is a waste of money that could be spent on resigning probowl player like vernon davis or up and coming players like d golson or a franklin or manny lawson i think jason hill is better and now with teddy ginn jr crabtree morgan he making to much to be a 4th string reciever on a team that barely run 4 wr sets and why would we run 4 wr with vernon davis basically being a 4th wr in 3 wr sets

We need to cut Jones purely for financial reasons. this money is better allocated elsewhere. Jones needs to go, M.Lewis needs to go, and Snyder needs to go; maybe not at the beginning of the year, but certainly at the end of this season, or whenever the latest time period is so we dont get penalized if and when theres a cap for 2011 season.
Adam Snyder- $2.550M - replace with Boone
Michael Lewis- $4.150M - replace with Mays
Brandon Jones- $3.470M - replace with K.Williams
if we also restructure Clements contract [Nate Clements- from $8.167M to 5mil per year], we'll have around 12 million dollars taking into consideration the salaries the replacements will command. The extra cash can be use to retain V.Davis, Goldson & Franklin. Sucks for B.Jones that we never saw him fulfill his potential in a 49er sweater, but he got his money, its a business, time to move on.

I am going to defend him because no one else will. There are three simple reasons why we should not cut Jones:
1. His contract is not that bad. ~3M/year is nothing onerous. It will not prevent us from resigining anyone. Even if there were a cap, we would be tens of millions below it.
2. He was the best WR we had in TC last year. Before Crabtree, he came in and blew Bruce and Morgan away. He was easily the best wr before he got injured.
3. After Crabtree and Morgan, our receivers are really bad. Even Morgan still has big question marks.
The big question is why dilute the talent level even more? Ginn was so bad that, even though he was a former pro bowler KR, we were able to get him for a pittance. That means that as a WR he effectively has negative value. Hill is still the enigma he always has been. Jones in TC last year did more than those two have done in their entire career.

That was Terry Donahue's strategy. It didn't work.
The fact that we had to learn so painfully is that you don't cut talent for potential. Boone and Williams probably each have a 1-5% chance of ever turning themselves into viable NFL players and Mays probably has a 50% chance. Thats the reality of the NFL. When a player shows he can play in the NFL, you simply cant cut him for TC fodder and base the move off potential. You will get burned like TD.

At the time getting Jones in FA appeared to be a good deal, an inexpensive experienced WR. He WAS an improvement over a than horrible WR core. We didn’t know if Bruce was going to retire or play, no one believed we were going to have Crabtree land in our lap and many of us were talking about Battle being cut. He was having a great training camp until his injury.
Now our WR has quickly become a strength with Crabtree and Morgan beginning to establish themselves. Jones, Ginn and Hill will battle for the remaining spots. Bottom line our WR corp. is better and that can only benefit the team
