I agree with you that Larry Allen was a beast. He was tough to handle while he was with the Cowboys more than the 49ers though. But he did open up some good holes in the latter years of his career before retiring. I actually agree with you to some point about the need for Guards rather than a ROT. I don't agree that Baas gets a cop out by saying he is too young. The guy is in his 5th year? Rachal I will give a pass to for now. Snyder IMO is better suited for RG not tackle. I think with Solari and Brown coaching the line there will be improvement but I definitely would like to pick up a Guard or RT in free agency to solidify the line and add depth.

That's why I'd like to see us picking up an offensive tackle with the 13th pick and Iupati at the 17th. McClaughan probably doesn't have the vision nor the guts to do it though. Wouldn't be surprised if we came away from the first round with out a tackle or guard. Unfortunately, McClaughan does not see the importance of interior lineman.

Just to remind you Snyder was the LG in 08 before he sucked to much and was eventually benched for Baas ( who was healthy at least for three weeks during Snyder's tenure as LG).

Everybody including myself thought that Snyder would be fine at OG, but he proved us wrong.

He sucks less as a OT than as OG, hard to beleive but true.
That being said I'm terrified of having Sims at RT, he's Ok at LT bit total trash at RT.

I would pick up a return guy in the 2nd/3rd round and spend the rest of rounds 1-4 on O-line

Larry Allen is a BEAST! not just his size, but the swagger and angry mentality he brought to our team. We need a Vet player on our O-Line to with that kind of personality that our young players can feed off from. I feel that we have a good O-line we just get beat up and bullied mentally during games. I know we are talking about O-Line, but look at what Takeo has done for our Defense! Willis is the core,but he is not a vocal bully like Takeo. But those two feed of each other and has made a really big difference in our team.
