York is cheap. He always has been. With the exception of Justin Smith and Nate Clements he hasn't signed guys for a lot of money. Of course you could throw in Jonas Jennings also. But over several years we have signed MOSTLY very cheap FA's. And we have gotten what we paid for.
We would be tens of millions under the cap if there was still a cap this year. It's a lie to say we can't get FA's. We could have had Julius Peppers. And he would help us. We could sign guys and our own guys too. Only VD and Willis are going to get huge deals. Most of the other guys are in the moderate range and won't break the bank.
Remember York only signed Jennings, Smith and Clements when the media and fan base gave him very intense criticism over time for being cheap. More recently you see other teams signing guys left and right like the Bears who are improving their team. Our team according to Scot M. has a "self imposed salary cap."
Don't believe the lies of the the YORKIES. They only signed a few guys over a 7 + year period of time to high contracts. For the most part and in most years they have been among the cheapest in all of football. What have they done to improve the team this offseason despite the opportunities that presented themselves?
