can't remember where I saw it but I believe Coffee is expected to weigh in around 225 by the start of the season...should be interesting with his downhill running style...jury is still out though

Mostly behind a few long runs, piled up against some bad teams. He didn't consistently get the 3-4 yards, that 1K is misleading.

Were going to a spread offense not a running offense.....which we tought we would have been in the beg. of last yr. Coffee was drafted to pound the ball in pro formations. The only reason Gore is still around is because he can catch the ball out of the back field. Spiller would fit great with our spread offense and more important boslter out return game were we have walker and robinson returning kicks (whomp) they cant get past the 20 and have no burners...spiller would be a NICE add to the squad

MM says that Coffee has been hitting the juice and his weight is up to 220.

This is absolutely his future. There is no reason to give up on him yet. True, he isn't the complement to Gore that many of us want, but if Gore goes down its important to have a tough, downhill running back. He has height, so I hope he can get his playing weight up to about 230lbs (maybe by 2011) and punish would-be tacklers.

Coffee at 230, Gore at 215, and a Spiller/Best type back at 180-200 sounds like a pretty nice set up (assuming we fix the oline). The problem is what to do with MRob. I love the guy, he is a stud on special teams, but he simply cannot justify a roster spot as an RB. He needs to become some combination of FB, slot receiver, and TE.

I really dig the concept of Coffee adding some pounds. At the very least, if he was simply a Goal line and short yardage back for the next few seasons, there would be nothing wrong with that.

When the NINERS shifted from trying to be a running offense to passing, plus poor run blocking and play calling coffee just did'nt have a real chance to show anybody to much of anything. I would'nt say he has been given up on. Gore is a injury away from him getting playing time again....Unless we draft another RB that takes the #2 spot

I remember there being an article here that says we were 1st in the league in getting stuffed behind the line of scrimmage on run plays..It was in the same article that said we had the worst O Line in the league i think

I saw signs he was getting it together late last season...and I'd expect to see him play better this coming year. It's also important to recognize the OL is Singletary's highest off-season priority, so based on that, I'd expect an improved group in front of Gore & Coffee. I'd still like to see Mac sign Bushrod or Gaither...even if it cost a 1st rd pick. Either would be starters...and could force Staley back to RT. Draft Iupati in 1st rd and OL upgrade would be all but complete. Still need a quality b/u OT, though, especially if Sims signs w/'Skins.

i think if we ghave a decent o line cofee will do pretty decent to good

Exactly. I suspect after his contract is up we will let him go then Coffee will fill in.
