Dennis Erickson hands down, I truely believe he is the reason why we ended up the way we did.

Are you kiddin' me? He was a lame duck coach who had little power. He had nothing to do with the sinking ship. Just a patsy.

i disagree 100% about Erickson. Our front office fired Mooch after the Niner's first (and only) playoff win without Montana/Young. Then they gutted the roster because the of the horrific salary cap situation they put us in. Erickson was brought in IMO to be the face of the niners problems during that necessary rebuilding time. In other words, he was here to be a scapegoat.

not to mention our brilliant GM threw a ton of cash on Kevan "dances in place" Barlow during that rebuilding.

not getting or keeping OL together or a great wr. This has made our qb look worse. Put Rogers on our team and he would of been sacked over 70 times and done far worse than smith with our wr's and no line. Remember GB has 2 pro bowl wr's and a very good OL,
the biggest mistake is not keeping or getting a good OL or WR

All this hate for Dennis Erickson doesn't make sense to me. It's not his fault that the team was abysmal.

Mainly Donahue because, let's remember, Erickson was a Donahue hire.
Now, if we want to go down that road, Donahue was Bill Walsh's hand picked successor...

Hang on, Yorks taking over? Why did they have to take over and what was the alternative.
Way too much sh!t talked about the
Yorks on this site. The foolishness of Eddie DeBartolo forced that situation.
Ummmm,
English. I agree with you alot of times but this isn't one.The league Suspended Eddie. They stepped in as interim owners, being that they were relatives.
When Eddie finished the suspension they refused to relinquish ownership.
Rather than get into a costly court battle that would more than likely have torn the Debartalo family apart, he SOLD them the team. In truth they stole the team. They had no rights to the team since the money that paid the operating costs were in trust and paid by Eddie before the took his vacation from ownership.
Yeah his issue led to them holding the team, but they should have given up the team when he was able to return. They didn't.
I don't hate the Yorks for "being cheap", I hate em cause how they got the team. Denise's claim was that Eddie didn't own the team. Well if that was TRULY the case then why did she and John pay ANY money to Eddie?
The "cheap" tag came from when they were trying to scrimp and save so they COULD buy the team.

I'll make a strong case for releasing JEFF GARCIA. You look around the league and the good teams are the ones with strong QB's. Garcia had a lot of years left and we could have groomed Smith slowly having Garcia here.

Don't forget about the back problems he had, thats was the main reason we cut him.

By far Terry Donahoe. His horrible drafting set us back a decade.
