Steve DeBerg was much better than Smith. But Walsh was smart enough to say "DeBerg is just good enough to get you beat". So he searched and found Montana and Young. But we will stick with DeBerg, I mean Smith.

Most Smith haters are just going to hate no matter what. When I see them bashing Smith when the kid throws a TD passes I know there is no hope.
I understand hate, but saying that we'll suddenly find a HOF QB out of the s**t pool of college players and FA QBs is f**king DISGUSTING. obviously he's not the answer yet, but f**k.
I agree, we won't 'suddenly' find a HOF QB, esp if we don't look. Smith is an average NFL QB, not championship caliber. He's had 5 years to learn now, and he's average. Keep Smith, but keep your feeble minds open to the fact that he;'s not great, and to win championships, you usually need a great QB.

at least we finished at .500.....I wish we could have made the playoffs but we have a good foundation especially on D. we have some cap room and 2 first round picks, let's fix the OL, add a DB and maybe a passrusher, fix the PR/KR situation and we're in the playoffs next year.

After that 73 yard TD reception, he deserved to get at least a shot. Instead they do everything in their power to not give him the ball. THere is no diffrence between running the ball into the endzone and passing it. Its not like they were sitting on their own 10 yard line and bombing it 50 yards up 21 points.
