He's no stranger to cold-weather games having played at Utah. Here's an excerpt from a story I wrote about Smith in 2005: In lauding their quarterback, Smith's Utah coaches talk more about his toughness than touchdowns. Ask Bill Busch, the former Utah assistant who recruited Smith out of San Diego's Helix High School, about the quarterback's true colors, and he'll talk about the Utes' 2003 regular- season finale, a 3-0 win over rival BYU played in a driving snowstorm in Provo. Smith's passing numbers - 11 of 19 for 113 yards - were some of the lowest in his career. Still, Busch called Smith's performance "brilliant," because the 190-pound sophomore managed the game like a fifth-year senior, minimizing mistakes on a horrible day in an inhospitable stadium. "He got the crap kicked out of him, and he never flinched," Busch said. Former Utah coach Urban Meyer pointed to last season's game against San Diego State. Smith threw five touchdown passes in a 51-28 victory over the host Aztecs. "They had one goal in mind - that was knock him out of the game," Meyer said. "He had one of the best games I've seen a quarterback have. i think our teams game is better suited for nasty conditions..that way they can't turn this game into a track meet..frank the tank all day

With wind chill it was 6 degrees outside. The BYU vs Utah is one of the biggest rivalries in the nation.

I think the Eagles have some sort of plan to run if the weather turns less than favorable for their long passes, so don't think that we can Gore them to death just because their passing game isn't working (they can always resort to shorter passes (unless it gets really bad, like a blizzard or something)).

Besides, we play on a sunnier environment, they play in Philly, where it is 25 degrees Fahrenheit right now (as opposed to San Fran's 50 degrees), which one should be more prepared for inclement weather?

I think bad weather favors the receivers. You see DBs slip and fall more often than receivers. The receiver knows where he's going from the snap. The DB has to react to that. I don't think the weather means less or more passing.

Mostly I fear McNabb. Seems like he always drills us.

I think this weather will help out the 49ers, much like the cold Bills game last year. Go 49ers!
