You didn't finish your post, what did he say?
So....what did he say?
ok ok.... the other host was basically saying Alex is not the answer and tried to get Jerry to admit it..... Rag (other host) said that if the 9ers struggle these next two games that Nate Davis should be brought in to see what they have in the kid, just to get ready for next year.....basically to see if we need to draft a QB in the early rounds or not.

Jerry responded by saying that the 9ers need to keep someone there that will be part of their long term plans....

he said Shaun or Alex needs to be around to show be a vet presence....but and the end said Nate Davis is the future of the team.

edit- someone add to this or let me know if I got anything wrong.

Well Jerry has never been high on Alex, so I'm not really surprised at him saying that.

yeah, but like me, he says we need to open it up early in games for Alex (or I'm sure any QB we have back there) because the current plan is obviously not working.

so its not like he is a Hater.....just hasn't seen anything in Alex to crown him, I guess.

I wonder if people said the same thing about Cody Pickett or Ken Dorsey. Never understood the fascination of late round QBs some how blossoming into HOFers. For every Tom Brady there are 20...well...Picketts and Dorseys.
from what i heard i thought he was saying "if" alex isnt the answer, then he should mentor.. the commentators were relentless in getting it out of him though
good to know

the difference with them is, when they had their chance they failed....if Davis does horrible...then, well that is his chance....

you can still struggle alittle but still show signs of being a good QB. as a rookie.
but if you still struggling after a few years well....

Dorsey and Pickett it was obvious early on.
As much I like Jerry Rice, he has always had a team with a good Oline coach, McKitrick and head coach Walsh, etc. I have to disagree with him here. Nate Davis with this offensive line? please. The running game stinks ans so does the defense.
QB play is the least of my concerns after that display.. OL, pass rush, pass D and play calling are the areas that need to be addressed

Opening it up early would be a good idea. I wonder why we don't do that?

Jerry says that every week...

He knows more about WR than QB.
