This is such an old argument. Just because you say that you want Alex to do well doesn't mean anything.
For an example: The Seattle Game where Smith had perhaps his best game. Go back and look at the comments. The "ACP" or whatever people are calling the haters these days, for the most part, harped on the last throw, or said "he's only had one 300 yd game now" etc.
You see that since the ACP's (and the Alexcusionists or whatever they are called) are both emotionally invested in Alex's Success or failure for personal/ pride/ validation reasons, they interpret things with a bias. That is the problem. So what some on here are saying is that it doesn't matter what Smith does well (again as evidenced by the Seattle game last year) The ACP's will focus on any negatives to make themselves feel like their view is correct. While on the other hand the real hard core Alexcusionists will do the same thing by over-looking his faults. IT is so funny when somebody from one faction calls out the other - like you just did - for doing something that they themselves are promulgating in posts all the time.

RE: Alex Smith
Response: BULL
I personally don't believe Alex had one good game last year. He had some average games. He had some below average games. And -- in others -- he just sucked.
I hope you're not referring to the game AT Seattle. If you call this "good quarterbacking," then we will never agree on this point. Heck -- I don't think we'd agree on what's black and what's white.
Good quarterbacks do not have games like Alex had against the Bears -- in front of the home crowd. Good quarterbacks take advantage of their counterparts when they throw five interceptions in one game. Good quarterbacks turn a five-pick game into blowouts.
Good quarterbacks do not play the Rams to a first half tie during the last game of the regular season.
Did you miss those games? And you're calling me biased? Really?
I think you just made his point. He didn't have a "good" game versus Houston? Jacksonville? Really? If you don't think Smith had a "good" game up in Seattle than your defination of "good" seems more like "superior" to me.
This isn't an argument over how I want my steak cooked! How many definitions of Alexcuse play are you using? Rare? Medium Rare? Medium? Medium Well? Well Done?
There are two descriptions of play in my book: well and not well.
Alex has failed to take this team to a playoff berth -- hell he hasn't even had us in a playoff hunt -- in FIVE YEARS.
To me: that qualifies his play as: NOT WELL.
I am really happy that we have people in charge right now who will accept only one outcome: playoffs. Period. End of story. No excuses. Playoffs. Perhaps even a division title. Dare to dream?
I don't think Alex can get us there. I haven't seen any indication or any sign that proves otherwise. I know there are others in this thread who appear to be just fine with giving Alex six years -- seven -- eight -- nine or ten without seeing or experiencing any tangible results whatsoever.
BUT I AIN'T ONE OF THEM.
I really think that you either realized that you were destroyed in your little rant
Yeah man, you toasted me but good. All Alex all the way. I can see now that Alex can do no wrong.
I've just gotta stop with them negative waves.
Why are there more and more posters on here concerned with "destroying someone" instead of talking football?
Don't act like you guys came to this thread to talk football. Can't talk football with you guys because you are totally unreasonable and don't know enough about football to even have a decent conversation with. Anyone with any sense can see what you guys agenda is, and it has more to do with bashing the starting QB than talking football. Look at it this way, this year either we win with Smith or you guys will have to move on to the next player on the roster you choose to dislike for whatever bulls**t reason you want to make up.
The only thing destroyed in this thread is the credibility of people that deal only in absolutes, and say ignorant things like "Smith has never done anything" or "he will never be any good". Not one of you football geniuses is clairvoyant, sometimes I wonder if the term cogent even applies. It seems to me you guys are more invested in Smith than the guys that hope for him to succeed, you certainly seem obsessed with blaming one person for a teams shortcomings. Personally I don't care who the QB as long as he doesn't cost us games, but I know however you declaim it, you will never be happy unless Smith fails miserably so you can happily claim to be right while we watch other teams advance in the playoffs. It must be a miserable existence to be such a person.

Are you sure you're not related to Alex
