I believe a QB with decent pocket presence could have some success with this o-line. Smith and Hill get sacked or hurried in situations that over 50% of the other QBs in the NFL would not. You could put Hill or Smith behind the best line in the NFL and they would still fail. Steve Young had some of his biggest years yardage wise behind a leaky line and no running game. Smith and Hill are terrible, if they were cut, I assure you no one would pick them up.
i doubt that cause the Bengals picked up JT uhh ohhhh Sullivan
If he can be picked up anybody can

This team needs to spend major resources on the OL this offseason. I believe we need either sign one top level FA and draft another OL in the 1st round or spend both 1st round picks on a OL. We are not going to get Berry and passrushers take a couple years to develope.

Agreed. But is the problem the talent or the coaching?

Rex Grossman got picked up. Trust me, Hill and Smith would get picked up. Doesn't mean they're anything special though.

BULL$4|T!!!
Make the switch and the Line should perform better because the Opposing Defense will have to respect a downfield threat.
Passing on the Rams is NOWHERE near what it's like trying to pass on the rest of our Scheduled opponents. So I seriously wish that people would just stop the Hill train. It's fugly as hell.

I think Hill has earned the right to be the starter based on last year's performance down the stretch. However, if he continues to play like this and we end up 3-4, Hill should be benched.

Let's not forget about our WRs not necessarily getting open, and VD who sometimes can't figure out if he's the hot read in blitz situations. It's a team thing. Everyone on offense plays a role

I never bought into that. We had absolutely nothing to play for other than getting the Win. Once the season was over we were done. Well okay we COULD have made the playoffs if the Cards game had gone the other way, but it didn't.
I've stated many times that he's nothing more than a solid #2. The competition should have come to the scheduled conclusion rather than 2 games done and Hill picked because they wanted a game manager. Alex could have done EVERYTHING that Hill has done to this point of the season. Hell, I could do what Hill did this season. Nothing special about it.
I'm seriously tired of people acting like Smith has no value to this team. They don't rework contracts of those types of Players. As well as the trade deadline has come and gone without Smith's name being brought up once.
If Smith gets his chance and all indicators are that he will, its a safe bet that Hill will NEVER see the field as the Starting QB for this team ever again.
I just don't want Sing to make the change when it's too late. That's happened every year for the last
???
... well it's happened every year for a LONG time. Not at just the QB position either. I'm fed up with personnel changes that are not put into place in a timely manner.

What do you guys think is a reasonable return on our Oline investment? I mean seriously, we have 3 first rounders and 2 seconds. That's a lot of money. Next year I expect a competent coach will have these guys playing at a high level. If we aren't a consistent top 5 Oline for the next decade after next year I'll consider it a bust. In a year or two our QBs should have days to throw the ball.
