Alright im tired of the "lets start Nate Davis/Alex Smith" ,"we need to draft another Qb", "Raye's play calling" non sense , The fate of our season will depend on our Oline, yea i know they aren't the best in the business but if Mr Staley, bass,Heitman,Chilo,Pachos, Snyder and co can stop acting like doormen in a manhattan building and letting D-Lineman go pass them and actually BLOCK, everything will come together , but i will say this we need to DRAFT O-LINEMAN!!!! not a freaking QB , WR , or a RB, A O-LINEMAN if not a D-LINEMAN
Yes. They are the deciders.

all im saying is whats the point of getting another QB , he is gonna get killed behind our line. Just hope and pray that this unit can A)pick up blitzes better and B)hold their man if its one on one , thats all im saying

Agreed! If our O-Line can't play up to the NFL level it wouldn't matter if Tom Brady were back there, nobody is going to get consistent throws. If we can't run they will open up the field and play the pass. If Shaun can't scan the field or let plays develop he will get sacked or have to throw the ball before it can be a good pass. Our O-Line must step up and create push and time, bottom line!

Go NINERS!

at least a new QB can read defenses and know what's coming and maybe get the ball off a little quicker and actually throw a catchable pass!!!!

How bout it for a new QB?!!!

A new QB will still be unsuccessful if the other players create negative push on our offensive line consistently and stuff the run. Watch games with the Colts, New England, the Saints and even Atlanta. Those QB's have pocket created around them 85% of the time allowing the plays to develop and the QB to scan multiple options.

By the way I am not saying Shaun is on the same level as Brady or Breese but he can be efficient if he gets time.

yes both lines o and d will always and forever be the foundation upon which any offense or defense is built. they must be well coached and prepared and held accountable to perform on game day. if and when this happens consistently everyone will see that we will compete in every game. with that being said, i still like mcloughan's draft for talent or bpa and fulfill needs in free agency with proven veterans. now we can argue that we haven't always drafted the best talent and attained the best free agents, but i believe his concept to be a sound one. when you overlook a better talent in the draft at your slot to dry to draft an unproven commodity on the nfl level to fulfill your need, u can end up with even greater disappointment then what u have when u draft a patrick willis at lb even when u feel that you have pretty good linebackers at the time. i would hate to have passed up on him and seen him shine elsewhere and get carriker to fulfill a need on the dline and be pouting. he and paraag are doing a fine job on a budget keeping us in position to make big moves when the time is right

That's just it... those QB for those teams are smarter and know how to go in the pocket when it collaspe and find the receiver unlike any of our QBs who sees a pressure and turns the side to only get sacked... can't blame this problem on a bad OL... look at the packers! QB is a HUGE problem for us... even when we do get protection, what do they do? nothing!!!

i understand that hill has a 9 year old arm and yes it would be nice to have a QB but right now we cant do nothing about it , go ask Vernon if he wants hill out the lineup

But those other QB's have more open looks than ours a higher % of the time. Our O-line breaks down every other play if not consecutively. You do make a good point though about the fact that Shaun and Alex both need to learn to step up in the pocket more often then simply resorting to an outside scramble.

I believe a QB with decent pocket presence could have some success with this o-line. Smith and Hill get sacked or hurried in situations that over 50% of the other QBs in the NFL would not. You could put Hill or Smith behind the best line in the NFL and they would still fail. Steve Young had some of his biggest years yardage wise behind a leaky line and no running game. Smith and Hill are terrible, if they were cut, I assure you no one would pick them up.
