They were talking buy or sell on 2-0 teams, and Martz said "sell" on the 49ers. he said we have a nice d, but our passing game isnt good enough yet to buy.
then went on to "buy" the Denver freakin Broncos, who he drooled over and "gave big props to mike nolans new d" and called them for real, having a solid all around team.
please. the broncos look like a mess. theyve beaten the 2 ohio teams. one on a miracle last second TD.
i think martz is a little bitter.

bitter? probably. But he does have somewhat of a point. The passing game has not been flashy by any means and leaves you wondering what will happen when hill is forced to pass.
That being said, the niners won the AZ game because of the passing on that last TD drive and the dinks and dunks last game helped chew time and keep seattle off the field.
It's been ugly, but effective.

Just wanna go ahead and echo someone's comments in the Matt Millen thread:
I would be worried if Martz was sold on the Niners. It makes absolute sense why he wouldn't buy into them, because obviously to him, no passing attack = no win. That's why everyone was all over him for offensive coordinator vacancies in the offseason.

our wins have been solid though. weve kept the penalties down, played outstanding D, especially run D, and the rushing issues against AZ all but disapeared last week. we dont have the personel to be a big passing offense.
for our style, our passing is just fine. it gets the job done. wins count, stats dont. our passing game isnt pretty, but its not our strong point. it only needs to be good enough to allow the offense to flow and let the D keep us in games.
people dont realize were 7-2 in our last 9 games. we are for real. we dont have drew brees at QB, but weve been winning like a top 10 team. our "mediocre" qb is 9-3 as a career starter, and has yet to lose at home.
not trying to be a homer, but even if you werent a 49er fan, you cant ignore the facts.

I don't really care about Martz. As long as the 49ers can keep winning, I'm all good.

I watched the same program. However, I agree with Martz that if your offense is one dimensional you can't expect to get as far. You have to develop a better passing attack so that everyone can't just load up the box.
For those who want to say, well look at what they did against "stacking the box" in
Seattle, that's one game. If your offense is predicated on simply running on 1st and
2nd down, sooner or later teams you play will take the running game away.

it's just building up....each week hill is getting comfortable in the game and he'll find it ....not the flashy passes but the short passing attack west coast style enough to get by ...not a pats attack or colts offense...just enough to win...it's worked so far...too bad same can't be said about the WILDCAT

Yea, I think most of the teams in the league except one should dump the Wildcat or Taser.
We'll see on the passing game. This weekend would be a good time to show that passing attack because if we are to win we will need it. Say what you want to about
the Vikings rush defense so far this year (I guess #1 isn't good enough because they
only played crappy team) but for the past three years they have been in the top 5.

I can understand his "sell" because of our offense.
His "buy" the Bronco has me my head figuring it's cause Nolan hired him ------ cause I don't see that.

I made a thread this offseason saying I hope the niners don't run the wildcat, then raye said he wanted to...
Everyone jumped down my throat saying it would work, and we had good players to use in it...
I still think it sucks, i'm glad its not working for the dolphins, or anyone else who tries to use it.

I'm with you my friend, if he really were the genius that some claim him to be, why is he on TV talking about football instead of out there putting his genius to work?

Can you really blame him, we have to earn some respect. Hopefully, after this week we will.

Can you really blame him? I mean, Singletary fired him and Nolan wanted him. Ahh, the politics of Networking.
