This is %100 greed on Crabtree's part plain and simple. The niners have done absolutely NOTHING wrong in these negotiations. EVERY other draftee signed their slotted contract offer. (DHB was Al Davis being a dumba$$, not him holding out). I'm thankful that you guys that are willing to pay him whatever he wants aren't our owner or GM.

The only solution is for Crabtree to change agents and get a deal done then. Parker can say he didn't cave, Crabtree can say he didn't have anything to do with it, and the 49ers can say they didn't want to deal with Parker.

I still don't understand how the 49ers can be so stupid to think that they can just offer one contract and be done with "negotiations." Do the Yorks want to get the approval of the fellow owners? The other owners are laughing at them.

they offered 2 contracts one back loaded less signing bounse , the other is the 16 million 20 overall. back loaded mean the they offered him 35 million 12 in signing bounus and get the bulk of the money in the last 2 years of the contract !
At this point I hate him as a player. I hope nothing for his career and hope to see him in bankruptcy court poor as hell

He's never gonna be a niner and I'm happy about it.

The Niners can't get punked on this one. He was selected at the 10 spot, why should we give top 5 money. If we did that, yeah, other owners WOULD be laughing at us.

I'm not. He could have been that "it factor" for us at WR, but now that he isn't I hope he has a s**tty career and his whole life gets f**ked up for being an idiot!

**** CRAPTREE now
Marshall Faulk: "But Crabtree will have a hard time getting to the second contract only catching 50 balls from the SF QB's" paraphrased

Irvin basically said that Crabtree would make SF better.

We don't know what Crabtree is asking (cheers to Parker for keeping this confidential...unlike our organization that leaks information to every newspaper reporter through league sources).

Say what you want about Parker, but he's kept the contract negotiation silent, which allowed for some form of compromise in the end. He could be asking for top 5, top 7 money, or simply something out of the tenth slot. We simply don't know. And, that is the key to a good contract negotiation.

But since the Niners have made it clear to the world that they aren't budging, this contract is not going to be signed. Just a stupid, stupid manuever. It puts them, and Crabtree into a box that has no solution, other than one side having to cave in and lose face. This has become a "saving face" situation for both sides, and the Niners have created this situation by going public through secondary and third parties.

Crabtree is an easy target for scorn, but this also shows the organization to have severe problems. They are just as culpable, or more, for this disaster.

There are some many things that can be put on the organization over these past several years but this isn't one of them. Even though WR wasn't their biggest need, he clearly was the highest rated player on their board. Even if he is, and they knew, a "diva", no one could expect a draft pick to sit out the entire season. No matter how great he was in college, still there is greater likelyhood of him being a bust then a pro-bowl caliber player. The 9ers aren't being cheap. And for those who swear he will be great and want the 9ers to cave. The fact is, even if he becomes a great WR, caving in to the 10th pick would have far greater consequences on the team in future drafts.

I can garuntee you that the other owners (Jerry Jones excluded) are NOT laughing at the Niners. I'm sure they are VERY thankful to the Yorks for not caving and breaking the slotting system.
it's an embarrassing situation for the organization. pathetic really.
