Oakland? Dallas? Washington? NYG?

I kind of wonder would a team really want to trade for him. They will most likely not give up a first round draft pick for a guy who by the time the 2010 season start, hasn't played a game in nearly 2 years. Also second rounders are considered more valuable to some teams. Now considering that a team would have to pay Crabtree a whole lot of money and their current first round pick a lot money, it seems way to expensive. Add in the fact that there could either be a lockout or a rookie salary cap by 2011, would it be in a team best interest to pay so much money. Even Jerry Jones has to be worried about these issues. He has to keep paying on his expensive new home, and a lock out would hurt big time. Does he really want to be on hook for all this money not knowing whether a future salary cap could put him in a bind?

That is why I used teams with crazy owners and lots of cash. You are telling me Mr. "I'll give you a 1st for freakin Seymore" won't do it. Let Crabby run a 40 sometime this year, send tape to Al and ask for next years first. Done and done.

That does bring up another question of whether the niners would let him work out for another team? If you are going to ask for a first, the team would probably like to work him out. You don't want to give a guy a stage to work out so teams can draft him, if you cant find a trade partner.
From MM's latest column:

I'm just wondering if it might not be in the best interest of the 49ers' organization to lower their contract offer to the point to ensure Crabtree does not sign. If Crabtree is going to be this much of a problem before even stepping on the practice field, it might work to the team's advantage to make sure he never becomes part of the team.

Think about your question real hard and you will have your answer?

right. sorry. quite possibly the dumbest question ever posed on this site. I just started thinking if a new team has his rights through trade and he doesn't sign with them, what is his status for the year? I suppose he sits out another year?

oh wow, if he did that again he would be a complete moron and would be playing in the CFL.
Thats a good question, because is it the same rules or does he get to become a free agent

Val, if he is traded to another team but doesn't sign, wouldn't he just go back into the 2010 draft? That's why I think trading him next March wouldn't be as easy as people think.

yeah you are right, just ignore anything i post today cuz im clearly not thinking

It's obvious that we never brought him in for an interview, it's obvious we didn't do our homework. Scotty blew his wad when he saw him drop and drafted him.

Ummm I believe most 49er fans wanted him when he dropped not just the Scotty. How is it obvious we never scouted him and can you provide factual evidence of that that we never did ?

Go back and look and the Brady Quinn situation when he dropped in the draft, he got more money than his slotted position as has been previously pointed out. He held out 10 days and the team coughed up the money. It has never had a negative effect on their last 2 drafts when it came time to signing their picks.

We didn't draft for need. WE DID NOT DRAFT FOR NEEDS!!!! that is why we are in this position. M. Oher should've been the pick. Logical. Man we are starting to look & sound like the raiders. pathetic. all of you on here that love this kid go to hell! he will suck. he was a system wr and will not be a good wr in the nfl. stop tjhe madness.

There are 2 theory's in the NFL draft for need or draft BPA regardless of position. We drafted the BPA far and away. If we wanted Oher then we should have traded back into the first to get him. He dropped quite far for a guy who was supposedly going to go in the top 10, you know why ? Because he showed a lot of inconsistencies. The 49ers picked the right player when they were on the clock.

There are a TON of system players who get drafted and turn into studs once they reach the pro's. Can you explain why he will suck, because you have failed to post anything insightful yet.

allot of you have drank the cool aid. crap man this makes me sick. if my boys & me see you with a crabtree jersey in the parking lot prepare for hell man. there will be a t least 12 angry guys reaming your ass! this is stupid.

Wow you and your boys are some real tough guys hunh ? Nothing like making fun of another 49ers fan because of the 49ers jersey he so chooses to wear, that'll show that fan. Way to make us look like Raider fans!

what will be even more stupid is if we sign him. what a waste of a pick. another waste of a first round pick. pathetic! it's the curse of the mooch! f**k the yorks!!! & scotty! horrid management.

How would that be stupid ? To sign a player with his potential is a GREAT thing and not at all a bad thing. He can hopefully eventually help improve a far from great WR core. We have some potential at WR but none have a ceiling anywhere near as high as MC's.

You are right, it will be a waste of a pick if at some time something doesn't get done. However with so few details available to us about this whole ordeal it is not fair to really truly blame one side or the other.

All we have learned is he was offered 16 mill guaranteed and the there have not been many talks between the 2 sides since then. Maybe the 49ers should up the offer, maybe they should be pushing a little harder to show him how much they want him to be a player on this team. Maybe Crabtree & co. should submit a counter offer (if they already haven't) and maybe Crabtree needs to make a statement to the media.

However one thing is clear, 49er fans are clearly overreacting to all of this. At the end of the day this sport has become a business and right now it's about money. We have very few details to actually go on yet everyone wants to blame Crabtree for the holdout. How many times have fans claimed the York's are cheap over the last few years....maybe it's time for the FO to put more money on the table or release more details to show us that they are doing all they can to get MC signed which would put more pressure ont he Crabtree camp to get something done.

Agree with everything you're saying. Except the part where the niners need to up the offer. Until Crabtree's camp comes with a counter offer, the niners do not need to bend.

Maybe it is time to offer more guaranteed, be it 2-5 million more (if we already haven't). It may just be time to show him that we are seriously wanting him to be in uniform. If nothing comes of it then we sit and wait for a counter and make that clear to the media and fans, let them know we have put more money on the table and now await a counter if that is not good enough.

Hell no! I'd rather keep the receivers that we have now than give into to this pussies demands and let him punk us! I bet that when he comes, if he comes, to this team, he will be b***hing about something else soon after anyways! Time TO MOVE ON WITHOUT HIM! CUT OUR LOSSES!

Did or has Brady Quinn ever punk the Browns since they gave in to his wanting more money than what #22 deserved ?

Speculating and assuming is ridiculous.

I dont care what other teams did. I dont want the niners to become a f**king charity! Whats more ridiculous is to listen to that clown and his "advisers" and give him more cause his ego is hurt! f**k him!

So by giving in to his demands that makes us a charity ? WOW!
F**K YOU CRABTREE!!!

I thought giving him a 16 million signing bonus is charity considering he has already ruined his first NFL season.

i agree with MM plus adding to the fact his value has now diminished due his holdout...meaning he will have little to no impact this year with all the time he has missed. i think the niners should definitely revise their offer lower.

am i right that crabtree's biggest issue is the guaranteed money? i def see that as a red flag. maybe his injury has caused permanent damage? maybe he knows deep inside himself he isn't that great and just played in a great offense at TTU?

p***y boy Crabtree is really starting to piss me off. If he doesn't come down off his BS, overrated, it's all about me attitude by Sunday I wouldn't sign him and I would take whatever I could for him in the future. At that point I would just tell him flat out "You blew it, we don't want you here, you are not worth the trouble, and we are going to take whatever we can get for you, even if it is nothing." Verbally give the dumbs**t a dose of reality while he sits out the season and starts to figure out he ain't no Neon Deion, he's unproven and he's put a bad taste in whole lot of people's mouth. There will be another team willing to give up enough to ship his ass off...cut our losses. I wouldn't give a f**k if he was the sure thing second coming of Jerry Rice...his ass would be gone, even for a single penny as compensation.

At the minimum, come Sunday, I would start playing hardball with him, I would lay it out like it's going to be, step by step of consequences of his continuing to miss deadlines: "Here's the deal kid, we are lowering the offer to this (make it a small amount), then we are going to start lowering it exponentially each week that you are not with this team...next week we will lower it twice as much as we just did, the week after will be 4 times as much. You better think about this long and hard kid, because this means your contract offer will quickly end up being penny's of what it is now, and all the other teams are watching what you do."
