Al Smith better come to play tomorrow.

Kudos to Hill.

They both looked good ACCORDING TO THE INFO WE GOT.

Not according to this article:

Quarterback update of the day

Shaun Hill was the decisive winner in the morning practice. He completed 12 of 14 attempts, and one of the incompletions was a spike during the two-minute drill.

During that two-minute drill, he hit on consecutive passes to Gore, Micheal Spurlock, Isaac Bruce and Vernon Davis before spiking the ball to stop the clock. After an incomplete pass, he hit Davis again to set up a 51-yard field goal attempt by Joe Nedney. It hit the crossbar.

Smith, meanwhile, had a rough practice. He completed 7 of 13 attempts overall but looked slow in his decision-making.

His two-minute drill consisted of several short throws to Glen Coffee before things sputtered around midfield. Smith eventually hit Jason Hill on a short completion on what should have been the last play of the drive. But somehow one second remained on the clock. (I heard a ballboy say that the clock didn’t actually go to 0:00. Sheesh, the Raiders can’t get a call to go their way even on their own practice field).

Nedney came on for a 49-yard field goal try but missed it wide right.

Everybody was looking for some separation in this battle, and I think it is starting to show. I think the game is just too fast for Alex, and it always will be. Anyway, we'll all see here in about a week or two.

key words are in bold. In the late practice both QB's looked good.

The info I got is from barrows and he names Hill as one of the Mvps. Smith could have been good but unless he's spectacular he's not going to start. So tomorrow he needs to bring his A++ game.

nobody said anything about starting. All that was said was that both QB's looked good in the late practice
Well it looks like Smith will start the season on the bench.
Too bad, I was pulling for him.
That's ok, that means we'll have one of the better backup QBs in the league.
It would take a lot for him to be the starter come season opener.
thats just talking about the morning practice. and all those completions are nice but just like in the broncos game he wound up settling for a field goal. that kinda bothers me for any qb.

I'm telling you, it's a wrap dude. How many times have we heard or witnessed Alex having trouble making his reads in time. He just ain't getting it. It's okay, not every college QB is made for the NFL game. Maybe he can play in Canada or something.

yea this is probably the most realistic stance. i agree.
I think unless Smith does something outstanding on Sat. nite or Hill gets hurt I think he starts out on the bench. I really wanted to see Smith win, but I think he will get a shot sometime this year to step on the field.
thats ok let him be the #2. He can sit and continue to learn the offense and be ready when called upon. no biggie, if Hill gives us the better chance to win then thats all good cause when it is all said and done it doesn't matter who the QB is as long as they are winning games

If you mean Alex Smith, then I have to disagree.

I am more interested in seeing Alex Smith NEXT year because this will be the first time in his career that he will have the same OC for two straights years. I do not see Jimmy Raye going anywhere next year.

Alex's is not a rookie but he isn't that far off from being one because of the OC carousal. Should he pick up this offense faster though? Of course, since it is similar to Norv's and he is acclimated with Pro life and style, but I am anxious to see what Alex can do later on this year if he gets a chance to play or next year.

I agree with you 100% I hope he is still around to prove some haters wrong that he is indeed an NFL QB
