"Both quarterbacks looked good in the next drill, which appeared to be a blitz pick-up drill. That is, the Raiders were sending extra rushers up the middle on just about every snap. The goal for the 49ers quarterback was to sidestep the rush and find the open receiver. Hill threw eight passes and completed seven. Smith, meanwhile, was five for five in that particular drill, including a nice pass and nicer catch by Arnaz Battle at the sideline."
Great job for both QBs. Looks like Smith sorta made up for his crappy morning session.
He'd better have a excellent all around day tomorrow.
On a side note i've noticed Smiths bad practices are always in the mornings haha. Probably not a morning guy. Better take a no doz tomorrow haha.

If Alex doesn't prove it this year, I dont even want to see him in the NFL next year. There are plenty of rookies that come in an are much more productive than he has been. He is a vet now. Even if he hasn't played that much in 4 years he's still been in the league. Look at a guy like Hill who only took one real game snap before coming to the Niners. He got his chance and lit it up. Sometimes either you have it or you don't. I'm not saying Alex doesn't, I'm just saying no more excuses.
P.S - I am completly bored with the training camp reporting from the two Matt's. It's like all they care about is the QB competition. What about the D? What about Vernon, how did he do? How is Heitman, Staley, Rachal and others doing? What about Soap, Franklin and Balmer this year? Is Haralson even on the team? I'm mean come on guys, give us some variety, dont be lazy. Being a stat counter of completed and drop passes everyday doesn't make for good reporting.

thats ok let him be the #2. He can sit and continue to learn the offense and be ready when called upon. no biggie, if Hill gives us the better chance to win then thats all good cause when it is all said and done it doesn't matter who the QB is as long as they are winning games
I am more interested in seeing Alex Smith NEXT year because this will be the first time in his career that he will have the same OC for two straights years. I do not see Jimmy Raye going anywhere next year.
How sad is the above statement? We now look for guys that other teams will have zero interest in. This is just a philosophy doomed for failure.

I totally agree. I like both Matt's honestly, but I would like to see a more in depth report. Wish I could be there.

Haha yeah man one session. Hill had a pick this morning oooooooohhh we are doomed. Alex had one bad practice. Big deal. Let's wait til pre seasons over before we put the nail in the coffin.
I mean I agree hill will prob start the season but that doesn't mean it's the end all be all of Smith.

he is a good player hes just not a good pass rusher. hed be good if he just had to cover backs and tes all day and make tackles all day but we need him to sack the friggin qb. i dont get how he was a sack artist in college but cant do it in the nfl. hes pretty much strictly a 4-3 olb.

I personally think we'll see some substantial evidence from Manny's PR around mid season. But hey, next season they could always draft Greg Hardy.

I don't know. I was hoping Smith would come around and show some decisiveness in his throws but from what I saw in the first game and from what is being reported his decision making is as sketchy as ever. I'm still hoping but the longer he looks indecisive in the pocket the more faith I lose in him. Hill is clearly the better of the two right now and in fact Huard may even be better than Smith at this point. Singletary already implied Smith will be on the roster this year but he may not be next year if he doesn't step it up.
