To add, his persuit on ball carriers was outstanding since the preseason. Not too many guys got big runs running away from him. Getting him upfield and running by him is what he needs to work on a little but even Charles Haley and most high end pass rushers have that problem on occasion.

I really think he has a future. If he keeps up the work ethic, who knows how it could go

I think he will be starting by the end of this season.

I think he sticks. However, I think this is more an indictment against the Niners for neglecting to address depth in this position in 2009 than Brooks being a good football player. He just isn't.

I just do not see any reason for excitement in Brooks. He continues to disappoint.

Marcus Hudson will play a larger role for the Niners in 2009 than Brooks, and I believe Hudson has about....one thread on the board (Brooks has five active threads).

Wrong and wrong!

He loves Hudson, for what ever reason. To be fifth in sacks as a team last year is a major improvement. Rather have a TEAM effort than one superstar sack artist!!!
Ahmad is gonna have a MONSTER YEAR

He has the talent to be the best pass rusher on the team

IMO Brooks is the best pass rusher on the team, by far.

• The silver lining to Manny Lawson's absence? It's giving Ahmad Brooks more time to learn how to play linebacker. Brooks was used mainly as a pass rusher last year. This spring, he's playing in first-, second- and third-down situations, which means he's having to do a lot more coverage. He and Parys Haralson were the OLB starters; Travis LaBoy and Diyral Briggs were the backups. It will be very interesting to see whether Lawson or Brooks runs with the first-team defense when Lawson returns.

he is a special talent imo, not sure if there is a replay available of his sack but it was incredible to see how low and fast he was going around the corner while maintaining his balance the whole way
