Doubt Dumervil is going to leave Denver. Also don't see the front office breaking the bank on any big signings.

Actually like the role of Manny Lawson on this team. He doesn't get many sacks but is great at sealing the edge and tackling RB's for a loss.

exactly why on earth would the team trade away Lawson who is one of the best in the league at not giving away the edge. He may not be a great pass rusher but he has to much upside in the run game to trade away. Now Harolson can go bye bye.

He's the perfect 4-3 LB...3-4 however he's underproduced. So has Harylson. I think all three should be competing for a starting role next year, nothing guaranteed for next year. We should also pick up another pass rush specialist this offseason in draft or F/A.

What role would Manny have in the 4-3? He is a "tweener" DE/OLB and will only have success in that role. Both Harlason and Lawson should remain in the 3-4.

I would like to see McCloughan sign both Shawn Merriman and Brooks to cheap incentive laced contracts in the off-season.

Than have Merriman, Lawson, Haralson, and Brooks battle it out for the starting positions.

This would be a perfect world scenario.

that would be a pretty nice scenario. I doubt the team makes any effort to actually improve the team though.

I have a lot more faith in McCloughan and ownership than most on the webzone. McCloughan has vastly improved the talent on this team since coming in 2005. He inherited a team full of practice squad quality players and added play makers to nearly every position.

I give McCloughan and the scouting department a

He physically fits the role as an OLB in the traditional 3-4. A sideline to sideline LB that can cover TE with his speed with a little blitz ability.

Brooks Breaks Through...

"“Six sacks is pretty good,” Brooks acknowledged. “But I think if I would have got in there a little earlier in the season, I probably would have had a lot more. I don’t really see a breakout season with six sacks. I think I’m capable of having double-digit sacks.”

Probably the best example of what type of peak performance Brooks will be able to produce in the years to come was in the 49ers 24-9 victory over the division rival Arizona Cardinals on December 14...

...Brooks’ individual effort helped to contribute to five forced fumbles, four sacks, and two interceptions on the night for the defense."

We have our next pass rusher right now.

With this guy getting completely dedicated to being an NFL football player, I am excited at the possibilities this guy can provide on the field in 2010.

Losing a father can't be easy at all. He seems to have a clear focus on his goals now.

I just wonder what the actual potential is here.
Brooks will be starting in 2011 at one of the OLB spots.

Thanks for the vid - one thing that stood out to me over the interview was how genuinely competitive he is and how he was upset he didn't lead the team in sacks. He seems hungry and wants more opportunities but at the same time, he said the biggest thing he needs to work on is his conditioning so he can play at 110% on every snap (and is obviously looking to have many more in 2010).
He played a lot better than I though and contributed nicely to the team. Gotta eat some crow and give the guy some credit. Hope he continues to improve and some how translate into more than just a 3rd down player.
