I think he sticks. However, I think this is more an indictment against the Niners for neglecting to address depth in this position in 2009 than Brooks being a good football player. He just isn't.

I just do not see any reason for excitement in Brooks. He continues to disappoint.

Marcus Hudson will play a larger role for the Niners in 2009 than Brooks, and I believe Hudson has about....one thread on the board (Brooks has five active threads).

Somebody needs to eat some serious CROW! 3 sacks tonite, whens the last time that happened? probably Haley!! We got a keeper in Brooks.

Good luck with that. This poster is known for not admitting when he's wrong.

Yeah so ive heard! But he knows he jumped the gun,I mean its not like Brooks has "arrived" but to say hes not any good was a bit premature!
In fairness, I think you should post the date of MD's original post.

I can understand why MadDog did not think highly of Brooks. Great athletes who do little in their first couple years are usually not going to pan out, especially when they have character issues.

However, to say that Marcus Hudson will play a LARGER role? That was a bit of a misstep.

At the time, we had plenty of safety and corner depth for Hudson to rarely see the rotation, but we had VERY LITTLE outside linebacker depth. Manny Lawson was still not a sure thing and neither were the free agents we signed to back him up.

Brooks certainly had a shot to make a splash with his raw ability.

MadDog is like Phil Hellmouth (poker player), he is good at what he does, and loves to tell everyone about it. But when he makes a mistake, he can't handle it.

I think its cool. Hellmouth makes poker more enjoyable, and MadDog makes the webzone more enjoyable.
ok i'm sold on ahmad brooks. he's been nothing but a playmaker on EVERY single play he's been out on the field. i'm not sure what he can bring as a starter, but we definitely need to throw him out there more often. our D kicks ass, we need clements back, and need to draft berry and another corner

Keeper!!!!!!!
I've been saying for the last two years I thought Brooks could be a beast...Singletary took him under his wing and is giving him a chance to shine. I think he's just scratching the surface...with his size, speed, quickness, toughness, etc. the sky's the limit for this kid. Now what we need is a bookend pass rusher, and you'll see our D become elite. I'm really hoping we can land Hughes in the draft...if not, Von Miller from A&M's another relentless pass rusher. Haralson's been a major disappointment this season...with Brooks and another top flight pass rusher, we could wreak some major havoc next year.

The key to Ahmad being effective is not giving him to much. We have found a role that he can do very well. Give him anymore and you won't get anything out of him. That has been the story of his life. Let's not get greedy. By spelling Parys and Manny you also make them better players.

Brooks was scary in last nights game! I hope it's the kind of game that takes him to another level. Sometimes it's that little confidence the players are missing that takes them to a whole new level.
Mike Nolan believed but not enough. When he went into the Supplementary draft the 49ers were seriously considering picking him up before the Bengals snatched him up.

Great game by Brooks, that was probably the best pass rushing performance by a niner in a long time.

indeed, he now has 5.0 sacks, behind only Manny who has 5.5.

If he can keep his head on straight and continue to improve then we might have something here.
