Serious question for Kizray - as the board's most vocal critic of Vernon Davis, what will it take for you to get off his back? What kind of a season would Davis have to have to make you glad he's the #1 TE on the team?

1st question:
It actually has nothing to do with what numbers he puts up. It has everything to do with how much hype and hope you guys have for him. If you guys would just see him as what he is. An average TE. All would be fine in krizay land. He's nothing special.

while krizay does look dumb in this thread, VD basically defied the odds this year and produced on an all-pro caliber level despite having a very fundamentally flawed game.

he commits more penalties than any non OL offensive player in the NFL, not only this year, but in the last 3 years combined. and he drops more passes than any TE in football. (tied for NFL lead in drops among TE since 2007 with Dallas Clark)

part of it is when youre a premier TE, you see alot of balls over the middle, which makes it easy to drop due to impending contact. still, he needs to learn how to hang onto the ball and make the play. and the penalties are ridiculous.

however, krizay basically jumped the gun and damned VD to bust status before he was truly proven a bust, and now he looks dumb. it was playing with fire to publicly call a rare physical talent like VD a bust, and he got burned.

I wouldn't go that far. Yes I was wrong on how Raye would use him. Yes I was wrong on what I thought his best season (statistically) would be.

But everything else

You were wrong on everything related to Vernon Davis. He's by far one of the best players we have on our entire team. And he's the TE of the future in the NFL.

I don't think VD is the TE of the future because it is going to be really hard for other teams to find a guy with his size and speed playing TE in college. I could be wrong but I'm going to guess VD is a once in a generation TE.
